Hi, I have seen other posts from people so reckon this must be a bug that needs fixing. what's the point of selling things to customers and not allowing us to use them as they are intended. Money back please apple.

Create the ringtone. It is free to do so, then sync it to your iphone/ipad
sorry to be stupid but how do I do that? in itunes on my PC as there are no options in settings on iPads or iPhones. Also itunes installed the 1st alert I bought into sounds>alerts as one expects so how come subsequent downloads get sent to music?

You can buy redy made ringtones from the itunes store on your iphone, under More>Tones
Other than this, you would simply be buying sounds/songs available to use as tones.
Google will find several free ways to create ringtones.
I use Garageband

The frustrating thing is that I bought the text alerts as text alerts so apple should make them go directly to where they are intended not into itunes where they can't be of any use....
