The software seals the deal for me. Finyl Vinyl, which only works with the iMic, is quite good for getting the songs in. You can record them while you are doing something else and then come back and split the file into tracks (using Finyl Vinyl).
Your TiBook is the cheapest way to get the files, as mentioned, but not the easiest. Remember that you need to split the files into tracks afterwards. If you convert the large file to an MP3 (using iTunes or something else) you can
split the file using
AudioSlicer.
To send your files over to your iBook connect the two machines via
Target Disk Mode and copy the files over.
