MacBook Pro Retina Fan Issues

I also have the problem (including able to replicate it with the "song test")

- Purchased rMBP via online Apple Store

- 15" Retina / 2.8 GHz / 16 GB RAM / 512 GB SSD, early 2013

- Sandisk, apparently (system reports APPLE SSD SD512E Media)

I'm opening a case with support later today, the number is 420621508

I'm not going to reset PRAM if that's irrelevant.

I know this they will ask you to do it when you call Apple Support.

i called apple, the admin advisor i talked to said that a firmware update will sort this problem in the future

and that all sandisk ssd will have this issue atm.. there is nothing you can do about, another exchange will do nothing because it will have the same ssd with the wrong firmware

so all we can do is wait that apple will sort it out with a firmware update

i will get mine exchanged but because of image retention, but i am pretty sure my new one will also have the fan issue until the firmware update

it is anoying i know but apple is aware of it and will sort it out

it is a shame to sell luxury machines with this problem

and they only say : "Wait, we're going to find a solution"

Pretty sure it seems that Apple is aware of the issue and a fix will be coming soon. A little patience will go a long way, so long as you have any to spare.

The lack of patience stems from the fact that there's a 14 day return policy. So if this is unsalvagable, its better to know now so that we can return our units and wait for apple to fix the issues.

Don't forget I already reported a month ago!! Two days ago I called apple care and this issue was still not known! After someone was showing a model in the apple store had the same isssue, then they will do simething... They should do need to take customers way more seriously!!

I was in this same situation ("they all do it, we're working on it" per Apple) in 2009, only to wait eight months before Apple said they couldn't fix it.

Had they given me this news in a timely fashion so I could have returned it for a refund, that would have been the right thing to do for a very loyal customer of two decades.

A $2,600 purchase at the time, I was less than happy about the outcome. Stuck with a defective computer (even after escalating the call two levels) with no way out, I ended up writing it off at my own expense, since I could not in good faith sell it.

I waited and bought a mid 2010 MBP which served me very well. Then this.

My current MBPr has a stellar Samsung display which I hate to give up, so I'm truly hoping this fan problem can be fixed with a software update.

Oh and since I forgot to post the config of this machine in my earlier post, after failing the test playing "The Song" which is a trip check, there's no question I too have this issue.

Late 15" 2012 2.3 / 8 / 256 approx 4 weeks old.

Irritated, but focused on being patient.

same problem here, bought my MBPr in december, it will just be sitting there doing nothing and the fans will ramp up to max for the longest time... but when i was editing a video and converting it istat read 190 degrees F and the fans only spun up to 2800-3000 rpm... im glad i got the extended warrentie...

Just bought a 15'' MBP I7 2.7 16 Go 512Go SSD SAN DISK (APPLE SSD SD512E Media)

I have the fan "issue" if i listen to the shared song previously mentionned in that topic... But anyway listenning to other songs dont cause any fan issue... (Smaller sized songs...)

What is interesting is that the temperature sensor is very low for all of them so this is very strange why the fans start to act as crazy fans...

As this is my first MAC i would like to know if this is a correct behavior or not and if it can be fixed by software ?

This song kick your fan up because it's a Apple LossLess format.

That's not a correct behavior. Call the Apple Customer support and tell them about your problem, mention this topic and the others case numbers.
