Q: MacBook Pro Retina Fan Issues

Hi,

I bought a macBook Pro Retina just under a month ago, and have been experiencing some issues with the fan speeds.

I can be just browsing the web or checking emails or playing music through iTunes, and the fans will spin up to full speed for a minute or so, and then return to normal.

I have reset the SMC, the PRAM and repaired the Disk and Disk Permissions, with no luck, I've also tried a full format and reinstall with no luck either.

I have seen that others have been experiencing similar issues, and wanted to get some advice on where I can go from here.

Attached below is a Screen Grab of my temps and fan speeds. The fans were at normal speed for a few minutes, then went up to a high speed, back down and then back up again, and kept repeating.

Thanks in advance,

James.

Exactly same as tango1111 above, purchased yesterday, same specs, fan just goes nuts when simply on desktop or cruizing internet, should i replace or wait for apple with fix? Is EVERYONE having this problem or isit possible my macbook will get replaced and wont have this problem?

Very disapointed, over 2 grand and still having issues.

Until it hits the bottom line, Apple won't do squat.  They'll take their time putting together a firmware that may fix the problem.  The best thing to do is just return defective units repeatedly until they are forced to admit the problem.

I have the problem as well.  1 hour after opening the box it started the fan.  A few Safari windows open and downloading some software.  Haven't installed anything on it yet and its bugging out.  The fan has kicked on 4 times in 30 mins.

This is the first time I have ever been disappointed opening a new Mac product since 1992.  This is killing me right now.

Zapped the PRAM and did the SMC so we will see.  If it doesn't resolve I'm heading right to the Apple store for a different machine.  This is insane.

Purchased retina 15" 3 weeks ago... No fan issues in OSX but when running BootCamp and any game the fans start immediately and don't turn off until I exit whatever game I'm playing.

Apple seeds OS X 10.8.3 build 12D78 to developers, it looks like this does nothing for our problem.

That's it I'm done.  This computer isn't more than a day old and the fan started up loud again  (8th time since I've been using it) while reading the NYTimes website during breakfast.  I have never been so disappointed in a Mac product in my life.   Been on these machines since 1992.  Usually happy as anything the moment I purchase a new Mac product but this is insane.

Its going back. Super annoying since I have installed and registered all my music software and now have to clean install.  UGH.

    and now...

I just had Apple Support call me.  I wait, it calls me I press 1 to talk to somebody, it hangs up.

    and then...

I resend the Apple Support ticket to call me.  I wait, it calls me I press 1 after the prompt and it hangs up.

    AWESOME.

case number Apple generated (granted I didn't talk to anybody)

Did you try to "force reload/refresh" this page? As for me - all messages exist.

    No that isn't the problem.

    Between this post

I have the problem as well.  1 hour.........

There are a few posts that have been removed between them. I know this because they were certain ones that were unforgettable.

If they have been removed purposfully then that is not on and clearly then someone from apple is actually watching these threads.

I would much rather they issue a fix faster than remove user posts.

I would imagine that the person(s) monitoring this thread and those who may be addressing the issue are not one in the same nor in the same group.

Can you give us the gist of these missing posts.

    My post was deleted

Not sure if it relates but could be the reason for those missing posts

Looking at Twitter, it apears Oyinko2 has had his account banned, not sure why as he was bringing some good info into the thread...!
