New iMac, Pegasus & Aperture?

Looks like I'm in the market for a new iMac, long story.

I now need to purchase a new 27 inch iMac & was wondering about adding the Thunderbolt attached External Storage?

I have a AP3 library of more than 20,000 images.

They range from 10 to 50 mb's each, not sure of the exact library size at the moment.

I use various external editors in post processing, including PS4.

Here's what I'm looking at:

Processer........3.4GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz

Memory...........16GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2X8GB

Storage...........1TB Fusion Drive

Graphics............NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2GB GDDR5

External storage.........Promise Pegasus R4 4TB (4x1TB) RAID System

My question(s).....

Any one out there using this setup?

What Raid should be used with this setup?

Can the AP3 library be stored on the external storage?

I thought it was a bad idea to have Time Machine backup your AP3 library when all (my) images a "managed"?

I use TM but exclude my library.

That has long been fixed. Time Machine works well with Aperture and iPhoto libraries, even managed libraries. They will be backed up incrementally. But I usually quit Aperture before starting a Time Machine backup, just in case.
