I dropped my iPod. Can I get it replaced for free?

I have an ipod touch, 4th gen, and I dropped it. I broke the wifi chip, and asked my dad to fix it for me for christmas. As he pulled the screen off, a part broke in half. I currently have no screen on, and before he fixed it, i asked a guy at the apple store how much it would be to replace and he said 75$. Anyway, long story short, Im pretty much asking if I can get it replaced for free without a screen, and if not how much do I have to pay to get it replaced.
