I started to get this problem a few days ago. I downloaded the app "remote" and I got an e-mail from apple

Your Apple ID, XXXX@XXXX, was just used to download Remote from the App Store on a computer or device that had not previously been associated with that Apple ID.

Thing is I only have one Apple ID so this was strange to me.

After this AppStore started showing (1) and then (2) and is now up on (7) but when opening appstore there are no programs to be updated.

I'm on iPhone 5 with no changes to the iOS since I bought it.

Last night I was told, by a msg on screen, to confirm my account on the phone under settings for some reason.

I have rebooted it twice now but still the same error.

Me too. My iPod Touch 4g running iOS 6.1.2 has persistent problems connecting with App Store, both on home WIFI and on public library WIFI.

Sometimes when I come back to App Store after using lots of other apps, I can do a little browsing and download one app or set of updates bfore it stops working, but most times when I (or other apps) open the App Store app, the App Store opens but its screen stays blank until my device goes to sleep. I mean the black strips at bottom (with a numbered badge on Updates) and top (with Network Status indicator endlessly spinning) are there, but the screen between stays blank white. If I click Updates (or another tab) at the bottom, the title (e.g. "Updates") appears across top of screen, but the space below it stays blank. Eventually it reports "The request timed out."

Last week, I could hope that I'd find something more in the App Store window if I left it a few minutes (50% of the time anyway) but the last few days it hardly ever happens. In rare cases when App Store does work, I see the name and statistics for each app, with all appropriate text, with buttons that work (price button turns to green Install button, then to Installing... and app duly installs) and with borders around where the icon and screenshots should appear. But no screenshots appear, no matter how long I wait.

The last 2 days I've had the same problem. I found a temporary solution. Plugged into iTunes and was able to accomplish the downloads there. My phantom number on the phone is now gone. However, when I touch updates I don't get the page that says all is OK, nothing to download, just a blank page. At least the apps updates seem to have happened and I have my backup on iTunes.

I had connected my iPhone 5 to my laptop via the lightning connecter and iTunes automatically launched. iTunes asked to update to the latest versions and I proceeded with the upgrade. Once iTunes was upgraded it prompted me to add this computer as 1 of my 5 Apple account devices - I entered my credentials and it told me this computer was already added. My iPhone 5 began syncing with iTunes at this point. Once the sync between my iPhone 5 and iTunes was complete I disconnected the lightning connecter from my iPhone 5, clicked App Store > Updates and the 2 applications that required an update now appeared - I was able to upgrade both Apps without an issue. Later today I received another application to update and it appeared under App Store > Updates and successfully updated. Just wanted to report my findings and provide and update.

Like BlackCloudOverMyHead above, I've been able to work around the problem through iTunes synching, but it's a pain if you have a long list of apps. For reference, here are my steps:

1. Open iTunes on desktop computer

2. Go to Apps (in your Library, not your device)

3. Check for and download Updates Available (If you can, try to note which apps are currently on your phone; they are the ones that will need updating in the next step.)

4. Plug your i-device into the computer and Transfer Purchases (File>Devices>Transfer...) if you haven't already.

5. Still using iTunes on your computer, go to Apps on your device.

6. Scroll down the list of available apps, and click Update on each app that offers it. (There should be at least as many as the number you saw on your device's App Store alert badge.)

7. Click Apply to sync your device with your newly-updated iTunes files on your computer.

8. If an alert badge still appears on your device's app store, see if you missed any apps in step 6. Or, new updates may have happened since step 3.

Good luck!
