Upgraded to Snow Leopard and now I can't print using ethernet.

Was using OS10.5.8 and had no problem printing. Upgraded to 10.6.8. Tried connecting using a USB adapter to J45 and changing preferences under "fax and print." Tried everything I can think to do but still can't make the connection between MacPro and Xante printer. Downloaded new PPD but still can't make connection. Should I keep ethernet and try to connect using IP connection? Use USB or no?

Please help.

Downloaded Gutenprint 5.2.9 and installed. Where do I select it, under IP/Print Using:...?

Networking/Advanced/DHS address is greyed out. Are these DNS numbers to increase?

Try this, as you have said you have the latest drivers. Go to system preferences>print/fax, highlight the offending printer in the left column, click the minus button. Now click the plus button and select your printer from the list, select make this m ydefault printer. reboot, then try printing, we just recreated the print acct. Hope this helps, as you have green lights. Try this first, then if we need to we'll get into the screen shot stuff. If you need screen shots of how to do this, just let me know and I will be happy to. All the best

Try applying, or reapplying, the 10.6.8 Combo Update v1.1

http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399

Best to install from Safe Boot. Hold Shift down at startup chime. Will take much longer than a regular boot.

It's a good general troubleshooting step, and it includes the 10.6.8 Supplemental Update

The Mac OS X 10.6.8 Supplemental Update is recommended for all users running Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and resolves issues with:

Transferring personal data, settings, and compatible applications from a Mac running Mac OS X Snow Leopard to a new Mac running Mac OS X Lion

Certain network printers that pause print jobs immediately and fail to complete

System audio that stops working when using HDMI or optical audio out

Wondering if I sould forget the ethernet connection and connect Xante printer to USB with an adapter? How will that change things.

Thanks for your help.
