How do I connect an IPod Touch (4th Generation) to media player to sync a music playlist?

How do I connect an IPod Touch (4th Generation) to Windows media player to sync a music playlist? It is not listed in the listing of compatible devices for Windows Media Player. And it does not recognize my IPod. It does recognize my IPod as a camera perhaps because it has pictures in it. Thank you!

iPod touch, iOS 6.0.1

No. You can only sync an iPod from media in your iTunes library.

If you have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar and Control+B to show the Menu bar

To import music into your iTunes library on the computer go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Add items to iTunes and follow the instructions

To sync to your iPodgo to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod....>Sync You Device> and follow the instructions.
