Airport Extreme Talk to Another Airport Extreme

I have two Airport Extreme. One is the newer 3Tb Time Machine which is is my prime router/backup and the other is a 4th Generation Extreme. I have most everything going through the Time Machine but I also have a piece of equipment connected through a Cat5/Ethernet cable to the other Airport Extreme so as to view the information on the connected equipment via the Airport Extreme for internet servicing.

Can Airport equipment talk to other Airport equipment without changing Base Stations? If so, how is the setup made?

Mac Pro (Mid 2012), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2), Other Mac's linked to Airport

I'm not sure I can explain it correctly but will try.

On the TC for unit 1, I have DHCP and NAT. On the AE for unit 2, I don't have access to it. The AE/Internet/Internet Connection/Connect/drop down is "Wireless Network" and is grayed out. as is Connection Sharing is "Off (Bridge Mode)".

Wireless Mode:The TC is "Create a wireless network" and the AE is "Extend a wireless network"

Both TC and AE have 7.6.1 software but the AE is about a year older.

Both of the DVR's can change ports. I am using 80 on the first unit wired to the TC and 81 on the unit connected to the AE.

On the TC the IPv4 starts with 216 whereas the AE starts out with 192. The DVR subnets are the same as is the gateway and DNS address. The IP address are identical except for the last two digits.

It looks like the AE is slaving to the TC so it"s just a matter of getting the DVR's visible to the internet dyndns.org software.

I'm not sure the significance of the dyndns password in the second DVR unit,

Hope this helps where we are going.

That all sounds ok.. I have no idea why dyndns should even be required on the second DVR.. turn it off.. you only need one dyndns active since you only have one public ip.

If you can ping both DVR from a central computer then both are fine.

Just forward the port 81 to the second DVR and try again using the software from outside the network.
