in Excel Freeze Column Header option has disappeared.

I have a General Ledgeer spreadsheet that has the freeze column option checked. I created a new one for the next year by copyiing the first and deleteing the old entries. The second one does not show the option to freeze column or row headers, in the table format button orothe menu Table. It is not even dimmed just isn't there. I have both sheets open and in the one they show and the other they dont. What happene to cause the table headder freeze option to disappear?

"Funny that the "Help" file had no mention of the view affecting this option!"

Here's the title and paragraph 1 from the article on this topic in Chapter 3, Using Tables , of the Numbers '09 User Guide:

Freezing Table Header Rows and Header Columns

When you’re not in Print View (which repeats header rows and columns on each page),

you can keep headers visible as you scroll through the document by using the freeze

option.

The searchable pdf guide can be downloaded via the Help menu in Numbers '09.

Hi Gregory,

Hoping to give you a break in future by providing that information.

I wouldn't go to "using tables" as a topic either. My search string in the user guide was 'freeze'

That produced the list of hits below (and displayed the guide page for the first hit).

User uploaded file

From there, a single click (either on one of the multiple hits on page 61, or on the "To learn how to ... Go to" table entry on the guide page displayed) brought me to the paragraph shown in my previous post.

Compared to (at least the early editions of) Help, the User Guide is a gem, in terms of readability and searchability. I recommend the first few chapters as a sit down and read all the way through to new and experienced Numbers users, and the rest of the guide as a go to when needed resource.

(Page numbers in the current edition my differ from those above—I've kept the version downloaded shortly after buying iWork '09 in the retail box edition.)

Barry
