iOS 6.1 stuck in recovery-itunes wont recognize

This happens when there's some unknown error with either iTunes or the IPSW which you downloaded. This tutorial would help you kick your iPhone out of Recovery loop. These are some of the old tools, but Tinyumbrella has been updated to 6.1.1.

Hope this helps. If nothing works, try doing a DFU restore.

ImKarthikK thanks for the reply. I just tried it, it kicks the ipad 3 out of recovery, but the ipad goes back into recovery, kinda like a loop.

I have tried DFU mode as well to no avail..

That's bad. Did you try doing a DFU mode restore?

Here's the funny thing, the ipad was working on 6.1 OTA update. I just wanted to do a full restore as I wanted to pass the ipad to my wife, with her own Apple ID. The minute I did the full restore, the nightmare began.

I've read on the web it could be that some settings may have changed and itunes is not able to reach the apple server, I've opened terminal and pinged gs.apple.com , the reply came thru, and from the web it does look like a valid appe server:

I've also tried downloading the firmware manually ipad3,3 still no joy...

What could it be?

Here's what I did..

a) I removed whatever firmware that was in this folder /Users/<username>/Library/iTunes/iPad Software Updates

b) got itunes to redownload the iOS 6.1

c) hooked up my iPad, which was detected by iTunes (stating it is in recovery mode).

d) hit the restore button.

Viola! My iPad is back again!

Now here's why I feel things went wrong, initially when I triggered the iOS download from iTunes it did the download then failed on me 3 times. Afterwhich, I choose to download the file manually <-- perhaps the file downloaded manually was corrupted, perhaps.

Just thought I update my status hoping this would help someone else 🙂
