I bought an HD season of a television show and downloaded all episodes to my iPad4. They are taking up too much room, I want to delete them and download the SD version of each episode but can't find a way. Is there a way to download the SD version?

If iTunes sells a lower quailty verison you can. You can see that option in iTunes store below the price.
Why don't you leave your HD TV Show on iTune (computer) and only sync it to your iPad when you need them?
The show can be bought in SD.
I'm not syncing through a computer (don't have a computer that meets the system requirements) but downloading over wifi.
You can delete the video in the video application by swiping left to right or right to left cant remember. You can then purchase and download the other movie. Products of iTunes can be redownloaded from the purchased section after removing from the device.
Just to recap my question...
I bought the HD version of a television season that can be bought in both SD and HD.
I downloaded all the episodes of the season via wifi and they are taking up way too much room on my iPad.
I would like to download all the episodes in standard def to save room on the iPad without rebuying the entire season in the SD version.
I can't find any setting to that will allow me to download the HD episodes that I have bought in SD.
Is there a way to download them in SD?
No must repurchase.
I would say a easier solution though would to be either download let say half now and half later or even better you could just put them on a streaming device.

In the meantime, is there a way to return the HD versions to iTunes and get my money back? I haven't watched them.
Movies are kind of wierd in that situation purely due to copyright laws you could try to ask for a refund at https://expresslane.apple.com/Issues.action its already in the section you need.
You want to do the email option normally takes iTunes about 24 hours to respond.

About the wireless storage, does it generate its own wifi signal (ie can it be used when there is no wifi), or do you need to be on a wifi network for it to work?
Hi M8, it appears you've been given some bad info. This can easily be done, no need whatsoever to repurchase.
On your iPad or iPhone, go to the actual iTunes store page for the show you wish to re-download (*not* the "Purchases" area). Once you are there, assuming you've already purchased the show (or movie), you will see the option to "download" the individual episodes, rather than a price to purchase them. You will also see the HD/SD option up near the description of the show. Simply press the SD button, and then download each episode. They will download in SD, saving you tons of space.
I recently did this and replaced 8 episodes of one HD show with 20 SD episodes, and still have several gigs left over.

I returned the season to iTunes so I can't see this right now but before I returned the show I did go back to iTunes and couldn't find an SD download option. iTunes support told me if buying HD then can only download in HD.
It would be great if you can buy HD and download SD, it would save a lot of space when you need to.
I did what I described to you literally two days ago, with a TV show I've only purchased in HD. Sorry you are having troubles with it. Good luck.
I'll go back to the Apple store and ask them; I returned the 64gb iPad over this whole space issue.

I have spent too much time trying to work this out. Finally I can download the SD version over the air to my ipad. Now if I could work out how to transfer SD via a wired sync with my Mac and iTunes...
