Corrupted during download?

I tried an over-the-air update and the dreaded connect to iTunes screen came up. When I connect to iTunes it tells me I need to restore. OK. Restore downloads the latest software fine but when I verify it it says that the software was corrupted during download. I've turned AV and firewall off and rebooted the computer to no avail. Is there something else I can do to get a clean copy of 6.1 to install on my iPad2?

I posted this in another thread but I'll post it here, hoping it helps more frustrated ipad 2 updaters.

Hey I had the exact same problem. What I did was just download the file from the Internet and since I have a Mac I pressed option + right click on restore Ipad. Found the ios 6.1 file I downloaded and it updated fine. I was pretty upset before I found this solution. Hope it helps!

BTW just google ios 6.1 for your specific apple model and plenty of results should come up for your respective device.

I had issues with corrupted downloads once and it turnes out it was a setting on my router. It's been years so I"m afraid I honestly can't tell you what that setting is, but try googling your router and corrupt downloads (such as router make/mode, corrupted downloads) and see what can come up. You'd probably find any advice on the router manufacturer's site.

I too found Rayny28's fix above to solve the problem! I was able to download an UNCORRUPTED file from a third party site and using the option key + itunes restore function selected the file and BANG...problem solved. Kudos to Rayny28 and Moffoc1 for their contributions. Assuming this problem is isolated to iPad 2 users, I also found this link ( http://www.everymac.com/ultimate-mac-lookup/?search_keywords=A1395 ) helpful to identify the specific model id of my ipad 2 in order to download the correct ipsw file for the restore. Good luck everyone!

I didn't see Rayny28's fix but I did the same thing. My only problem was it was trial and error finding the correct iPad 6.1 ipsw file. Mine finally worked wiith the one for the "older" iPad2.

Here is what I posted on another thread with the same problem:

I had the exact same problem and after much frustration and searching I found a solution that work. The only difference in my procedure is i see you have an iMac and I have a Windows machine but I think it will work the same once you determine the correct ipsw file to get.

I found this website that has all of the restore files for the iProducts which are lined to the Apple server that hosrs them:

Mine was trial and error because there were three different files for the iPad 2. but after the third I got it to work.

So what I did was download the file to my PC. Then I moved the file to:

\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates on my laptop. For Windows users you will have to set the option to see hidden files. Not sure how it works on a Mac or what the location is.

Then I went through the restore procedure again in iTunes. After plugging the iPad in itunes told me I needed to do a restore. So I clicked on OK and then pressed (again for Windows machines) "shift" while clicking on the Restore button in iTunes. it will then ask you to find the ipsw file location. find the file and select it. If you downloaded the correct firmware version for your iPad for 6.1 then it should work. If not you'll get an error saying the firmware is not compatible in which case delete the ipsw file and download one of the others and start the restore procedure again.

On you get the right one and it starts to restore you can then restore your other apps and things through icloud. Good luck!

You only have two choices, the newer or older and like I said I had to try them both and mine worked on the older. I don't know if you saw this in the instructions near the top of the page:

"These .ipsw files are hosted on Apple’s servers, it’s best to right-click the file you need and “Save As” to prevent some web browsers from trying to extract the file as an archive."
