Corrupted during download?

I tried an over-the-air update and the dreaded connect to iTunes screen came up. When I connect to iTunes it tells me I need to restore. OK. Restore downloads the latest software fine but when I verify it it says that the software was corrupted during download. I've turned AV and firewall off and rebooted the computer to no avail. Is there something else I can do to get a clean copy of 6.1 to install on my iPad2?

Thank you all for the fix - it worked for me also.

I am amazed at the talent on this forum.

I will go to my original post and thank everyone there also since this post was copied to that one.

Meanwhile - the open ticket I have with Apple - I'll let them know this is the solution. They were very nice and tried very hard. Maybe they can pass this fix on for others who have a corrupt download without asking them to go to a free wi-fi place to try to download instead of using our home networks. Can't blame them for trying to rule that out, and I was willing to go to starbucks 🙂.

I'm really starting to have a problem with Apple. I thought these forums were supposed to help users that are having problems and to help others offer solutions to one another. I also posted the fix I found on another thread and just rececived a nasty-gram from Apple saying they removed the "post from Apple Support Communities. Software licensed by Apple may only be distributed by sources approved by Apple."

It will probably be gone from here soon as well.

After an hour of trying to download and extract files in order to restore my ipad 2 from the latest software update, I read a thread that suggested using google chrome vs internet explorer, following that advice was successful! I had to make the file into a zip so I could extract as instructed by another helpful user on this thread, and only then did I see the necessary ipsw file and was able to continue the restore. It's quite frustrating when you try to improve your device with the suggested updates and find issues along the way, but thankfully there are a bunch of smart people here to help walk the rest of us through the "I'm going to throw this **** thing through a window in a minute" mode, and provide solice in a very annoying situation. Thanks for the help and advice.

Yes this has been a real problem but after the following my ipads started working again:-)

Download the ipsw file from http://dreamjb.net/2013/01/grab-ios-6-1-ipsw-restore-device-itunes/

Then used Itunes to try to install this using Shift+Restore to point to this file.

The ipad restarted and itunes threw and an error but then the ipad started working.

I have been using configurator so Ill just put it down to another problem of many with this program which I struggle to believe has written my Apple
