Corrupted during download?

I tried an over-the-air update and the dreaded connect to iTunes screen came up. When I connect to iTunes it tells me I need to restore. OK. Restore downloads the latest software fine but when I verify it it says that the software was corrupted during download. I've turned AV and firewall off and rebooted the computer to no avail. Is there something else I can do to get a clean copy of 6.1 to install on my iPad2?

iPad 2, iOS 6.1

You only have two choices, the newer or older and like I said I had to try them both and mine worked on the older. I don't know if you saw this in the instructions near the top of the page:

"These .ipsw files are hosted on Apple’s servers, it’s best to right-click the file you need and “Save As” to prevent some web browsers from trying to extract the file as an archive."

I have tried clicking save as and then created a new folder on the desktop inwhich to save it and both the older verison and new version have saved a zip folder containing no IPSW file. I have also tried the same with IOS 6.0 and again it has done the same. I don't know if Im doing it wrong but I cant see what else I can do?

Thank you all for the fix - it worked for me also.

I am amazed at the talent on this forum.

I will go to my original post and thank everyone there also since this post was copied to that one.

Meanwhile - the open ticket I have with Apple - I'll let them know this is the solution. They were very nice and tried very hard. Maybe they can pass this fix on for others who have a corrupt download without asking them to go to a free wi-fi place to try to download instead of using our home networks. Can't blame them for trying to rule that out, and I was willing to go to starbucks 🙂.

yes it kept giving me 7 files, I have now sorted it, it seems IE was creating the problem, after I downloaded google chrome it downloaded fine. I now have the teadious task of installing all my apps again, (it wasnt backed up to icloud due to my iphone using most of the 5gb) It will be backed up to icloud in future.

many Thanks for you help.

Mike.
