iOS 6.1 Battery Drain Problem

I have noticed an increased amount of draining from my iPhone 4, ever since the new iOS 6.1 was released yesterday morning. I have only used minor iMessaging and my battery has seemed to drop a percentage every two minutes or so just in standby. It is sad to say that the Battery Bugs have not been removed and this problem needs to be resolved. Who else is experiencing drainage?

After performing the OTA Update to 6.1, my battery seemed fine. I set the alarms to wake me up. When I got up, I saw that the battery was sitting at 1%...while on the charger. I have tried charging it with different cables, electrical outlets, and couple of different computers; cleaned the ports using dust-off air spray; and the phone doesn't even hold a charge long enough to reset settings as it never gets above 1%.

I really miss iOS 5. I didn't have any of these issues. First wi-fi and now a dead battery. This is getting very tiresome.

I'm experiencing the same problem. My new iPad 4 was able to run 2 hours light use (just browsing non-flash web pages) with battery from 100% to 90%. But I upgraded to ios6.1 and recharged whole night to 100%. Today morning I browsed only 52 minutes the battery became 85%. The back of this iPad is obviously hotter than before. Bad APPLE! I tried to restore to ios6.0.1 but the error 3194 can be solved with all online tips. I'M DISAPPOINTED TO APPLE!

Any suggestions how to roll back to ios6.0.1?

Thank you Zapelectrified for both suggestions. I tried everything but it's the same. This is a 2 months iPad 4 and I never do any modification (never jailbreak or so). Windows 7 with latest iTunes 11.0.1.12. I tried a few different iPad3,4_6.0.1_10A523_Restore.ipsw. hosts file is clean but keep getting the same error.

I googled online found many similar reports. What happened to Apple? If it wasn't such a big power drain change I can live with it. Also I found my Asphalt 7 game performance is significantly degraded. It barely can play but once a while it loses a few frames.

I will go apple store as you suggested.

The approach I used yesterday seems to have the phone in what I would call a "normal" state (ie: it no longer drains to 0% after 2 hours on standy).

1). shut down all apps ie:

- double-click the home button to reveal the running apps

- select a running app by holding your finger on it's icon until they all start to "shake"

- shut each one down by touching the red "-" until there are no more icons in the task bar

2). Reset the network (which forces a reboot)

- from the Settings "apps" select: General -> Reset -> Reset Network Settings

- this should force a restart of the device

Unfortunately i did all of these at once so I'm not sure which resolved my problem, but I now have something approaching a usable phone.

FWIW also upgraded my iPad Mini to 6.1 (glutton for punishment I know) and it's been fine (again, I had to shut down all apps as some kept crashing on startup until I killed off everything)

YMMV

Same with my iPhone 4s. Updated OTA yesterday. The phone sat unused for 3 hours on my desk, having been charged to 100% overnight. When I grabbed it to go to lunch, it was at 26% and was really hot! I cleared all apps in memory, chekced nothing was hooked into gps, and walked for half an hour to get lunch, listening to music - by the time I got back, 1% battery left! Needless to say, before this update my phone would last all day no problem. What a mess!

Zap, I wanted to give you an update.

This has been an odd turn of events. I had another idea that I thought I'd try. In addition to turning off all signals (Cellular, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth), I decided to turn on Airplane Mode. My phone was sitting at 1% when I started. In 4 minutes, it was at 100%. I have been using the phone to text and check email using my cellular data connection, and it seems to be holding a normal charge now. So, if this works, I'll be able to cancel my Genius Bar appointment for tomorrow morning.
