iOS 6.1 Battery Drain Problem

That sounds like a calibration problem rather than a battery drain problem since there's no way the charge went from 1% to 100% in 4 minutes. Sometimes after an update (or randomly likely do to bugs) the battery indicator gets out of sync from the actual battery charge.

When that happens you'll either rapidly see the battery decrease and then stop at 1% and stay there for a very long time (I'm talking like 40 minutes while using GPS) or it will sit at 100% while using the phone for awhile (20 minutes of usage or more) and then suddenly drop.

Usually running the battery through a few full cycle calibrations fixes this (for the most part). This involves letting the battery drain until the phone shuts itself off and then charging up to 100% and keeping the phone on the charger another hour or so.

This only works if the phone is otherwise behaving normally. If the phone is getting hot in addition to the battery draining or never going into Standby, then calibrating won't do anything for you.

Yesterday night ı uptade my phone and put it in tothe charge. This morning ı took it from charge. After 3 hour all my baterry finished. What will ı do? How can ı change this problem?

Exactly the same behaviour as you. I will try the "Network reset" as suggested from user Fance in this thread ....

I'm also impacted by this issue since yesterday morning when I updated my iPhone 4S to iOS 6.1... and in addition my device overheats... (the issue seems disappear when I switch in Airplane mode)

I contacted the technical support this morning and they proposed me to exchange my iPhone by a new one even if it is not covered by guaranty anymore! (hardware issue??)

The other suggested solution was to reinitialize completly my iPhone in initial configuration to check if the issue come eventually from corrupted data and if the issue disappear in intial configuration then impossible to restore a back-up... I don't try yet this solution.

I did an OTA update on the 28th on my iPhone 5. It seemed fine for the rest of the day and the 29th but yesterday I noticed the phone was very hot and cycled power without really thinking about it. I took the phone off the charger at 8am and it was dead by 1pm. I went home and restored the phone to factory settings then restored it from backup. The battery had drained by %20 within an hour and a half of leaving home this morning. I just did the network reset suggested by another user and have wireless and LTE turned off. The phone isn't hot after about 10 minutes but we'll see if that did the trick.

The battery problems are worse. I'm using an iPhone 4S and never had an issue until after I upgraded to 6.1. I'm lucky if I get half a day now and the device is running very hot too. I'm trying to roll back to 6.0.2 and see if that helps. Right now, 6.1 is a no-go.

I totally agree with Ryan J. McDonoughj. Upgrading to 6.1 is really a "no-go".

I have also tried the fance's solution but unfortunatly it doesn't work for my iPhone either. After 2 hours in standby the battery capacity has decreased to 55 %. I have an IPhone 4s and updated to 6.1 from 6.0.x. No problems with the battery before this update.

Same problem for my iPhone 3Gs.

I have:

1. Replaced the back house and the battery. (completley new)
2. Fresh install of iOS 6.1 with no backup recovery. So no apps/mail accounts/icloud etc is configured. Completely new and and unused.
3. Location services, mail accounts, icloud, 3g, edge, wifi, is turned off/disabled.
4. Resetted the networks settings.
5. Restarted the OS.

Draining conditions:

1. Room temp 23 Celcius
2. from 0% to 100% via macbooks usb port on 3-4 hours.
3. from 100% to 0% in 40 to 60 minutes with everything off.
4. During both charging and discharging (all the time) the phone body temp is hot.

iPhone info:

1. 4-5 years old.
2. Have replaced the backhousing and the battery 2 times with no battery problems.
3. Everything is functional except the battery.

Any solutions here? Why is this happening?

Apple I have always loved you. But I think its time for me to switch to Nexus 4. I cant live like this anymore.

I'm having the same problem with my Verizon iPhone 4, though it seems to be intermitant. I started using it after a full charge last night, and this morning the battery level was at 96%. However, I just checked it a few minutes ago, and battery was down to 13%. Plus, the phone was noticably warm to the touch, which makes me think there is some process going on that uses lots of CPU. I had the same problem when I upgraded to 6.0, but restoring the phone (see my post in that thread). I guess I better try it again.

Try this (it worked for me when I purchased the iPhone5 and upgraded it to 6.0.2 in December after trying everything):

Step 1

Use iPhone until it drains completely to an automatic shut off.

(I noticed it took forever to drain the last 1% in comparison to draining at a rate of 1% per 2 minutes from the initial 100% full charge)

Step 2

Recharge empty iPhone to 100% without using it. If iPhone gets very hot then touch both left and right back side of iPhone to see which is hotter. If 1/3 of the left side is hotter than the 2/3 of the right side then the phone is processing lots of stuff. If 2/3 of right side is hotter than the left side then the battery is hot. Call Apple and let them know.

Step 3

Repeat steps 1 and 2 again. If there is no change in battery drain after the second full recharge then call Apple.

There is SysStats or SysStatsLite to check the battery condition and above all the current cpu load.

Don't be offended, but, what's your point?

I've had four different apps monitoring the battery and supposedly telling me how much time is left for each feature, which was wrong and they differed from one another. Some apps had the same values but differed from other apps' values. They were all useless and it was no help.

As for the process monitoring, how does that help stop battery drain? I mentioned process monitor earlier on another thread regarding what process was the culprit in understanding what possibly could be draining the battery, but, it too, was useless in stopping the battery drain permanently.
