All you need to do to workaround this problem is kill the AppStore process and restart it.

From the home screen, double press the home button and the app tray should appear at the bottom. Find the AppStore icon, hold down on it for a second until the delete icon appears, and delete it. Now hit the home button to return to the home screen, and reopen the AppStore. Your updates tab will now refresh to show the latest apps that need updates.

Hey MRagab,

Today morning I had the same problem in my iPhone 4S. App store app showed me 5 notification but in the updates tab it was blank.

I did following changes in the settings and I got all my updates and now my notification is working perfect.

: first double press the home button, kill the app store process then goto: settings -> iTunes & App Stores -> App on/ off (in my phone it was off, so I switched it on). Now goto App store and you will get your updates. In my case it worked.

hope it works for you too.

all the best.

cheers.

OK, I had this same problem with the App Store on my iPhone 5 running ios 6.1.3, and also on my iTunes on all my computers. My Wife had the same problemn at the same time and here's what we did fixed both of our phones.

I had a feeling that it wasn't the phone or the App Store cause the problem wasn't wide spread enough. I thought it might have something to do with how the devises were comunicating with Apple, probuably something I did wrong and was unaware of.

First we tackled our Mac Mini's, and downloaded the latest iTunes from apple. We did have the latest iTunes installed on our Mac Mini's, but we downloaded it from Apple, and installed it again. Then we opened Disk Utility and ran the 'Repair Disk Permissions.'

Then we restarted our Mac Mini's. When we went back to iTunes, the apps downloaded without any problem, no delay, no stopping.

With the App Store and Itunes working well, we then synced our iPhones with our computer. After the sync was finished, everything on the iPhone worked like new. We did not have to Restore our iPhones or reset them. Apps downloaded on WiFi and G3 just as they did before.

It worked for us, and I hope it workes for you too.

Cheers,

I recently experienced this problem as well with my iPad. It was mostly irritating rather than an issue. I read through this post and tried several of the suggestions with no results. I just wanted the apps updated and that little 3 notification removed!

For those of you that want to update your apps and get the notification number gone immediately, try this:

Go to App Store

Nothing shows up on Update screen

Go to Purchased

This lists ALL apps, it also shows you what apps need updated. Just update from there.

In the meantime, I did follow the instructions above from Pankajr on March 14, 2013 and it seemed to have worked but I need to wait for the next notification to pop up.

I hope this helps!

I've been unable to connect to that app store ever since upgrading to v7. I'm now on 7.1.2 on an iphone 4. The only thing that worked for me was to enable automatic updates (settings/apps/auto updates). Make sure you first enter your name and password first in the account section of the app store in settings.

Good luck!
