For step 3, my box highlights if I try to copy to a playlist. but doesn't highlight if I try to copy to my iPhone.
I'm trying on a PC and also on a MacBook. The problem occurs with both.
What is enabled under Settings - Summary and under Settings - Music?
Matt
iTunes will sync the contacts back for you.
If you right-click in your iPhone in iTunes, there should be a "Transfer Purchases" option. That will copy anything you got from the iTunes Store from your iPhone back to your PC.
You can buy a program called senuti to copy music you didnt buy from the iTunes Store back to your PC.
iPhoto or Image Capture will pull any photos in your Camera Roll, but I dont know about getting pictures you synced back. Im sure theres an app for that. Just remember that iTunes downsized them before it copied them, so they wont be the same quality as orig.
Oh, and go spend 75 for an external hdd and setup Time Machinr to automatically back your PC up so youre never in this spot again.
Hai
i am using iphone 5 and, when i try to sync with itune i lost all songs what i had in my phone😢. Now there is no songs showing in my Iphone and its taking too much time as well what can i do for take back my old song which i had in my phone.
I use iTunes to transfer songs from computer to iPhone 5: connect the iPhone to computer and select it on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes, and then use the Music tab on the right-hand side to select and sync the music that you want to the phone.
Okay, Lawrence, since you know everything about everything, how do I sync what is in my iTunes library to my iPhone 5 without deleting EVERYTHING on my iPhone? I don't want to look up and download the 20 different songs on my iPhone again just because iTunes doesn't have a blatant option to drag music onto my phone, that it used to have.
EDIT: I just went ahead and deleted over 30 songs in my library because I wanted to turn on 'Manually manage music and videos' which makes absolutely no ******* sense as to why I had to delete my library to do so.

It is a pity for you ! If you have backed up your music before, you can restore your iPhone data with iTunes or iCloud. If you have no backup before, you need to try to find ways to recover your lost songs from iPhone, but I think you can check your iTunes/ iCloud backup firstly. And you can refer to:If you need help restoring from an iCloud backup - Apple Support Then, you can transfer songs from pc/iCloud to iPhone 5.

I have this exact problem! I have hundreds of songs on my phone that we're once on my computer that I lost to a factory reset I had to perform, and now iTunes requires that I delete all of the songs off of my phone just to sync the few new ones I wish to add. What in the world?!
Everybody talks about how easy it is to add music to your iPhone using iTunes.
But nobody talks about the warning you get that before you Sync, iTunes is going to delete everything on your phone and then install everything that's in iTunes on your computer! That's a STUPID option!!! What about stuff that is NOT on my computer but IS on my phone - I lose that stuff! Apple wants you ti think it's that simple, but it's not. I've lost stuff off my phone more than once with the lovely Sync command.
I have a question.
I have followed the directions written, and when I clicked on "sync" a message came out saying every media on the device would be deleted before syncing with the PC. I want to import musics from PC to my iPhone, but i dont want other medias on my phone to be deleted. Is that possible?
Where is add music? Where is "in Itunes"? At what point do I drag the music?
Im pretty sure manually manage music is how I was able to drag songs onto my iphone, but now its not working.
Same here! The most demented piece of software I have ever seen, bar none!
if "for most people iTunes is simple" did you pause and wonder why the **** so many other people find it hard to use it and you need a help topic for the very basic of its functions? Wonder no more my friend, iTunes is a piece of counterintuitive crap.
