What is complicated about iTunes is that I can't see my device ie iPhone.

I can click [FILE], [DEVICES], [iPhone] and choose [SYNC]... it does steps 1, 2 and 3 in about 5 seconds, and VOILA, nothing has changed.

I can select all my music, drag right and a box slides over from the right-hand side of the screen which has [iPhone] in it, but you can't drag and drop to it.

Any other ideas as I for one am not finding this version of iTunes friendly at all - or does it just not like Windows8? I managed to get it to work on my iPhone4 🙂

ive tried this, when i am on itunes connected via usb cable it says the music is on my phone, yet when i go to itunes on my phone itself it isnt showing up. sorry to say this is why android trumps apple products in media in every way, seeing as with they products all you have to do is drag and drop into storage on your android phone and bam playing music from your phone with ease. ive done every step i see for this stupid iphone5c and the music i put on aint showing up, thanks apple for making ****** product decisions!!!

I am trying to transfer a lot of music from my PC to my iPhone4. Some of it transferred into iTunes without issue but most of it I receive an error message "...songs in protected WMA format...". All of these are from original CDs that I own but I really don't want to have to install them to transfer to my iPhone. Does anyone know know how to easily (even with 3rd party software) get around this? I've read a lot of forums but no one has mentioned this specific issue. Thanks for any help!

I had this working with my old iPhone. I remember it taking days to get the synch to work. Now I have the new iPhone 5c and had this delusional idea that it would be better than my 5 year old iPhone but sadly I am back at square one. It took hours to get it just to show up on iTunes. Now when I try to drag the music to the iPhone, this menu with the iPhone on top and Playlists underneath slides out but I cannot add music to the iPhone, only to PlayLists. I guess Windows iTunes may not be working with the iPhone 5 yet. If this goes on until Saturday I am taking the phone back and getting a Windows Mobile phone.

I have found if you right click on a song in iTunes you get a drop down menu with the option Add To Playlist and if you click on that iPhone is one of the options. I clicked on that but so far none of the songs has gone to the iPhone

I got an Apple iPhone 5S want to copy music to it, which it does. but it doesn't keep my folders intact, if I have 22 songs in 1 folder the library makes 22 albums. How can you make iTunes not mess up your music. I have a pretty large collection and not always in the mood for the same music. I want to be able to copy a folder to my phone and play that folder without having to do 10 different things to finaly be able to listen to some music

I posted this before and it got removed.... probably for "advertising" or some crap.... I'm not trying to sell anything, I'm just trying to help. So I'm posting it again in hopes that it makes someone's day

The first thing you need to do (FOR MAC ONLY) is to go here and download this free program (trust me, I'm usually hesitant on downloading stuff, but this program is a life saver!). The download took a total of maybe 10 seconds... user friendly and extremely simple program, as you'll soon find out.

http://www.headlightsoft.com/detune/downloads.html

Once you've successfully installed Tune, run the program! Once you connect your device, it will automatically show what device is connected. You're ready...

Step One: Connect your iPhone to your laptop (USB) - ignore iTunes if it opens, but CANCEL any sync that may occur (if it doesn't; even better!)

Step Two: In DeTune, it should automatically recognize your device (iPhone) and show all of the data in an iTunes-style display. On the left-hand side, you'll see tabs for Music, Podcasts, etc. (JUST LIKE iTUNES) Step Three: THIS STEP IS NOT NECESSARY, but I highly recommend it to keep all of your stuff organized: Create a new folder on your desktop (title it whatever, I used "iPhone Transfers")

Step Four: In DeTune, select everything you want to transfer. DRAG AND DROP it into the folder you made on your desktop... wait for the copying to complete.

Step Five: Stare at the screen in complete awe and amazement as all of your music is now comfortably sitting on your desktop waiting to be imported into your iTunes music library!

My files were in m4a format, so you may not be able to simply drag and drop. Import them into iTunes via FILE ---> ADD TO LIBRARY, then select the files.... Don't know why you can't just drag and drop, but that works just the same.

I hope this helped! I know I was in the same boat for quite a while, and am VERY pleased with this program. I bet my post disappears within a week 😉

Good luck and Happy Every Day!!!

Here is how to transfer music from computer to iPhone 5:

Firstly, move the iTunes folder out of username/my music/

Then plug the phone 5 into pc and let it sync. It will recreate the itunes folder and sync all the music. It should tell you there are things on the phone that are not on the computer and do you want to sync, merge, etc. Do a sync not a merge (since there is nothing on the computer to merge with).

I've been using apple since the IIe and I am really disappointed in all the updates the past two years. each time my experience gets worse. I just plugged in my iphone, dragged some music of my own that I wanted to hear in my car to review mastering options. when that didn't work I tried the music tab. it said "itunes match is on". So I turned off itunes match in my iphone 5. Still I could not put music onto the iphone. So I turned off itunes match in itunes. It STILL says "iTunes Match is on phone can access music in icloud. songs can be downloaded and played via Wi-Fi or a cellular network. So I am out of options. buy a zune I guess. thanks guys. I am asking for a refund for my itunes match.

Via iTunes.

Download iTunes > Add music > Connect your iPhone > Click in iTunes on your iPhone > Tab music > Check music you want > Sync.

The above works for me. Thanks Melle123.

iTunes will sync the contacts back for you.

If you right-click in your iPhone in iTunes, there should be a "Transfer Purchases" option. That will copy anything you got from the iTunes Store from your iPhone back to your PC.

You can buy a program called senuti to copy music you didnt buy from the iTunes Store back to your PC.

iPhoto or Image Capture will pull any photos in your Camera Roll, but I dont know about getting pictures you synced back. Im sure theres an app for that. Just remember that iTunes downsized them before it copied them, so they wont be the same quality as orig.

Oh, and go spend 75 for an external hdd and setup Time Machinr to automatically back your PC up so youre never in this spot again.
