And BEFORE attempting ANY Major Update or Upgrade... BACKUP your Current Drive and Operating System.
No, but some applications, including all PowerPC ones such as Microsoft Office 2004 and earlier, may not be usable afterwards, and won't be in the case of PowerPC software.
