I went to set my alarm, and when I clicked save a pop up appeared which said "Download over cellular? Additional fees may apply when downloading over cellular" and it gave me two options: cancel or download. Does this have anything to do with the fact that my alarm tune is a song from my iPhone music library...? Very strange.

Well, if it's if any consolation, you are not alone. I think they are rolling out new iOS so quickly, that they are **cking it up everytime!
I've tried changing song, I've tried re-importing new song from iTunes: end up with the same pop up.
Starting to hate Apple. Really.
Same problem... But just started tonight.. Reaaalllyy hope my alarm clock works in the morning.
I've been selecting cancel and my alarm has been working just fine every day since it started earlier this week.
Is the song or ringtone that is set as the alarm actually on the device or is it merely a previously purchased item that is in iCloud?
I have also had this issue. However, in addition, I seem to have noticed that when my alarm clock is turned on there is a massive battery drain. I used my alarm all week and I would go from 70% battery to 10% in about eight hours. This morning I didn't use my alarm and my battery went from 50% to 47%. Anyone else noticed that?
I noticed it only asks me this ("Download over cellular? Additional fees may apply when downloading over cellular") when I select a song, instead of a ringtone. Still don't know if battery drain occurs when I choose a ringtone.
The problem seems to have solved itself. It stopped happening a day after it started. The songs were ones in my music library. I don't notice the battery drain because I drive a lot so my phone is almost always plugged in. It did start happening immediately after the most recent update.
kaity4twenty, this might have been solved for you but this issue is still on-going for me.
As soon as you erase your set alarm, if you set a new one, you don't have this pop up again?
For me, the bug persists. Everytime I set a new alarm, I still have this issue with the pop up.
Anyone has a solution to this persistent problem?

I am having this exact same issue issue when trying to set an alarm to wake to music. I was hoping the latest IOS update to 6.1.1 would fix this issue but apparently it has not :-(.

I found a fix.
The alarm did the exact same thing for me, so I turned on dataroaming, and it stopped. Afterwards I turned dataroaming off again, and the alarm is still acting normal 🙂

I tried your fix: I deleted all my alarms, turned on dataroaming, turned it off again, created a new alarm - with a new song already in my library - and I still have the pop up.
Have you tried changing the song to see if your fix still works?

I'm about to just use my Iphone as a paper weight..
This bug made me late TWICE this week. I was an hour late for school. VERY FRUSTRATING.
Have you updated your phone to 6.1.3? This bug was fixed on my phone with that update.
But even before the fix, alarms worked fine on my phone. I had the annoying pop-up, but it didn't affect the function of the alarm.
Anyway, I suggest you update to 6.1.3 if you haven't already done so. Hope that helps.
