Mac Os X 10.6.8 Java update

Hi,

Recently I cannot run Java applications for my work. Where it worked before, it doesn't anymore.

It shows the message inactive Plug-in. When I click on it Mac start searching for updates but says everything is up-to-date, so that doesn't resolve anything.

I enabled all the options for Java in security preference in Safari. Also enabled applet Plug-in and Web start applications in Java preferences.

The new update seems to work...the fix using terminal did not work for me, I was on the phone with apple help also..could not figure why it would not work..But, I was able to remove the Xprotect.meta.plist from the core services folder as suggested and that did work...

Updating java with this new update has added that file back. Java applets now working again under 10.6.8 without fixes....

I suspect you are going to have to contact that third party to get them fixed.

Not sure what commands you are trying to run, but if they didn't come from Apple they are dangerous to use and won't solve this problem.

I'm sure they did, which is exactly why I told you to contact the developer and let him know they don't work any more. Nothing you do is going to get them running again, unless you are willing to erase your hard drive and run an old, unsafe system.

Trying to work around the problem isn't worth the risk, in my opinion and if there were an easy solution to this we would have heard about it by now. There is a reason that Oracle, Apple and every security organization in the world is telling all of us not to use dangerous code.

We had the same Problem in our Enterprise. Worldwide Macs weren't able to start any java applications from 10.6.8 to 10.8.x

I found, that in

/System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources/XProtect.meta.p list

there is a "JavaWebComponentVersionMinimum" thats responsible for that behavior.

After running a

sudo /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "Delete :JavaWebComponentVersionMinimum" /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources/XProtect.meta. plist

in terminal all java apps are working again.

I did it, and it workded, I suggest changing the permissions in the folder before opening them "Xprotect".
After I deleted the file, I tried to run the browser it didnt work.
I had to restart the browser for it to work correctly.

Thank you Shirkannnnnnnnnnnnnnnn 79

Apple's "new" politics is more agressive commercial one. So it definitily don't care about his own client who is more a customer.

Support is out, has you can see, only some other customer will help, no one in Apple help, just delete post they not like or do shodow the image of new Apple vision.

The definitive solution who can make them to have a virtuose commercial politic instead of this way is to leave them and use linux system. It would be less expensive, more stable, on the edge of technologie. And for hardware, Appple has nothing more to sale than gadget makes you dependent more and more.

So definitly, the technical solution is to not use Apple anymore (and sure... never for work, it is not stable, it is expensive, support life is to short, support is minimalist, technologie is out).

Because Apple will never listen clients before he will loose to much money on this shame way, i figure it will delete my post.
