Windows 8 in bootcamp

I am running Win 8 on a 2011 Macbook Pro with a HD (not an SSD or hybrid). I have had no problems, the only issue was that I needed to monitor the auto reboots to make sure the bootcamp partition booted during install instead of the OSX partition.

I think the big issue is the generation of Apple computer you are trying to install on. My guess is that any machine with a solid state drive would likely need new BootCamp drivers. I have lost sound on a 2011 MacBook Pro Win 8 BootCamp, but other than that Win 8 has worked fine. If you are not doing any critical work and just want to try Win 8 on a Mac with an SATA drive I think you will be ok.

I am very tempted to install windows 8 on bootcamp partition. On the internet, in some posts I found they still have driver issues, while some say that there are workarounds for those issues. Can you please tell me your experience? Did you get all the drivers to work??

There are no Windows 8 drivers, some people use the Windows 7 drivers and sometimes they work, but sometimes they don't

You may well be right - my MacBook Pro Retina has a 556Gb. SSD only, and there may not be drivers for this.

If Apple profess to produce computers which can be operated in either Mac OS or a Windows environment, surely they must ensure that their premier portable and it's technology is enabled to run the current Windows operating system? Isn't it about time that they resolved this driver issue?

I can run Windows 7 on the machine, but not the upgrade to Windows 8.

I have now installed Mac OS 10.8.3 on my MacBook Pro 13" Retina 556Gb. SSD, which already has Windows 7 running in a Boot Camp partition. I have opened Boot Camp Assistant 5.0.2(462) and selected the second option to download the latest Windows support software from Apple. I have tried to download this to an USB 4Gb flash drive, but it seems to stall at the halfway point, and progresses no further.

I only need the new drivers, as I then plan to use my Windows 8 upgrade DVD to install Windows 8.

Has anyone tried to do this? Have they succeeded? Are they also using a machine with SSD?
