What happened to my the long list of "Notes"?

iPhone 4s. From Sept. to recently, I was adding almost daily to a list in "Notes." One day, my list was gone and I seemed to be in a "calendar" mode. After fiddling arond and not knowng how to go backwards, I entered a few notes on a few days. Each day is a page. I can go backwards for a few days but still can't go back to my Sept. wonderful and needed list. I don't think it is lost or gone. I think it is inaccessible because I don't know how to make "Notes" go back far enough. In any event, I sure would like my list back! Thank you in advance for your assistance.

I was in a mall and passed an ATT store. I went in and told a guy working there what happened. He said that when I updated my phone (NOT the February update but the one before that in September) it wiped out my Notes. He said it was one of the things that happened although no one was advised this would be the case. He said there was a slight possibility I could recover my Notes in iTunes.

I went to iTunes and saw that I had backed up my phone at a date prior to the September update. However, when I went to restore my phone to that pre-update Sept. date, I was advised that I would lose my contacts and various other things. I can't remember the "various other things" at this moment. Since that back up, I have not backed up my phone which surprises me because I thought I was backing up every time I went to iTunes and I have certainly been there since September. Anyway, I am hesitant to restore my phone to prior to that September back up date (which is right before the update that is before this February update--which, by the way, I did do so now the whole thing may be moot--I haven't a clue).

You see, I made a mistake. Among the many, many things I put on that list were passwords. Dumb, huh? One of the passwords was to a new hotmail acct I opened. I recently bought a new laptop. Immediately upon starting the set up, it wants my Microsoft password and tells me I have one and then states that if I have a hotmail account, that is the password! Do you see my problem? I went to hotmail to see if I could either reset my password (heck, I don't even remember what user name I used) or start a new account. I can't seem to do either, I don't know why not. So far, I seem to be able to reset the passwords on the other things that I had the passwords on my Notes for.

Should I simply start a new question? How do I get a new Microsoft password, or how do I get past this request so I can proceed to use my new laptop? Or, should I use the the url German123 (I think that is who it was), along with paulcb, gave me to get help: http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ww ?

Thank you very much. You both have been wonderful.
