upgrade from iPhoto 9 to 11 failed, need help

Contrary to my untimely discovery of the  advisory to

not Force Quit if & when the process stalled, I did. Now I'm

advised to upgrade 9, (now gone) to 9.1 before proceeding.

Should I reinstall 9 from the DVD? Will it even install alongside

11 or should I delete 11? Fortunately I have a recent backup of

the iPhoto Library on a separate disk. Please advise the steps

I should be taking. Thanks in advance, Tom.

I think you are confusing (esaily understood) the marketing names with the versions

iPhoto 6 is version 6.x.x

iPhoto '08 is version 7.x.x

iPhoto '09 is version 8.x.x

iPhoto '11 is version 9.x.x

do you currectly have a working iPhoto? What version is it?

OK I did that. Still no pics.

The Library is 47GB.

What ever bacame of the conversion that is supposedly

needed to use the library with '11? This step didn't present -

or does rebuilding take care of that?

The package shows no contents in Masters.

I think I noticed the origina '09 library doesn't contain a "Masters" folder,

it looks like this:

It appeared that we've reached a stalemate here so I reverted to

iPhoto '09 (ver. 8.1.2), applied two updates from Software Update

and was able to get my pics back.

As the  KB article ***** http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4431 *****

gives instructions I should have read before upgrading, it doesn't

discuss what to do if the library conversion hangs - only what to

do if the application quits unexpectedly during the conversion.

My experience was the former and my only option was to force

quit, which  says do not do. As I see no way to safely upgrade

to '11 w/o risking another damaging force quit I will apply for a

refund from the  Store. Thanks for the help. Tom
