Kernel Panic after installing 16 GB RAM in 2010 13" MacBook Pro

I have been having some problems with my 2010 13" MacBook Pro.

After installing 16 GB RAM, made by Corsair, I have had four Kernel Panics so far.

The thing is that the RAM are 1333 MHz, and my computer only takes 1066 MHz RAM. But I downclocked both the sticks to 1066 MHz, so it should work right? They also passed Memtest86, so I don't know what is wrong.

I also did a clean install of Mountain Lion, on a brand new hard drive, but I had another Kernel Panic.

Are you sure it is telling you the ram is "OK"? Or is it just identifying the ram you installed?

Mac is known to be fussy about RAM.

RAM is the most common cause of kernel panic.

Ok, let's follow the scientific method. Open Activity Monitor, click on the Memory tab and observe the pie graph to determine how the RAM is being used. Maybe leave that corner of the window open where you can catch it in the corner of the eye as other apps come and go. If you can tickle a panic to occur, see how the memory was at that point. If the panic consistently occurs at the 8GB boundary, one of the sticks is offstandard and doesn't sychronize well with the other and the memory controller.

Mind you, this a Mac that hasn't been rebooted in about a month and is in constant use with all sorts of apps and foreign virtualized OS's.

I have now done as you told me, and I tried to use up all the RAM.

It went just fine for about three hours, and then I had a kernel panic.

This was after rendering 4K files from After Effects, and running 4K video files simultaneously on YouTube, and compressing 1080p video, all at the same time. I also had a lot of other apps open. This was much more than what I were doing on the computer, when the previous kernel panic occured.

When the panic occured, almost all of the RAM was used, except for about 500 MB. About 8 GB was Inactive, and 6 GB was Active.
