my 4s is stuck in the 'settings' mode and the home button isn't working

My 4S is stuck in the Settings mode, the home button doesn't take me out. I have no idea why it suddenly stopped in settings. Does anyone have any helpful suggestions for me? It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Lisa

Did you turn on Guided Access? Try a reset. Press the Sleep/Wake button and Home button at the same time for ten seconds until the Apple logo appears. Note: No data will be lost.
