Headphones do not work!
My MacBook Pro does not recognize any headphones. When I plug the headphones in, the music is still playing through the speakers! What can I do???

Have you gone to System Preferences>Sound and changed the output settings?

Tried it already. The headphones do not even show in sound output!!! 😟
First, I'd try (if you can get your hands on some) a variety of headphones - or even just another set - and see if your output port 'likes' the jack on others better.
Be sure to look closely at the port and make sure that you don't have a red light on - you could be stuck in digital out mode if you do and that can usually be fixed by inserting the headphones jack in and out repeatedly or - believe me - using a toothpick to swish around in the port and 'flip the switch'.
If it won't work with any headphones and there's no red light, then I would just take the machine to an Apple Store or an AASP and have them run diagnostics.
Good luck,

Thanks but I tried 3 different headphones and there is no red light either...I'll take the MacBook to an Apple Store!
Thanks for your help anyway.
Yep - 'sounds' (pun) as if something's up with the port!
