Can´t repair / change a USA iphone 5 in Europe !!! How come??

Hi, I bought an iPhone5 in USA last xmas, then I came back to Spain for work, and once in Spain I realized my iPone camera lens is not in the middle of the saphire glass and the pictures suffer from a tremendous pincushion distortion.

I called apple care Spain (europe), but they told me there are no replacements in Europe for US iPhone 5, and they can do NOTHING.

How come? How´s that possible? I know the USA iPhone 5 has different LTE chipset and it´s a different part, but what happens with world wide warranty?

What if a busniess man form USA going to work for a year in Europe finds out his phone stops working? Does he has to come back USA in order to repair it?

Isn´t there a procedure for that?

Can´t belive it..

iPhone 5, iOS 6.0.1

Because the warranty is not, and never has been international.

There is no "world wide warranty". Whoever told you there was was mistaken.

You will have to take it back to the US or send it to someone you know there to take it in for service. Apple will not accept an international shipment, nor will they ship a replacement out of the US.

That it is logical from a business perspective I understand but from a customer perspective combined with the worldwide warranty/support that is being offered, I would expect Apple to come with a creative solution. Solutions like shipping in a Chinese model and asking me to pay a certain amount for the shipment or replacing my Chinese IPhone with Dutch one. It's all about the fact I am just looking for the best/quick solution for a problem caused by the phone.

Apple does not promise or even offer worldwide warranty support for iPhones. From the Asia Apple warranty (English version): https://www.apple.com/legal/warranty/products/iphone-english-a.html

IMPORTANT RESTRICTION FOR iPHONE AND iPAD SERVICE.

Apple may restrict warranty service for iPhone and iPad to the country where Apple or its Authorized Distributors originally sold the device.

I refer to the following documents:

1. http://www.apple.com/cn/legal/statutory-warranty/

Here is written that i actually have rights one 2 kinds of warranty:

A. China Warranty Regulations

B. Apple One-Year Limited Warranty

This also applies to Iphones.

If you look more close to the Apple One-Year limited Warrant it is written under "Overseas services" that Apple may restrict service or an authorized Apple reseller in the country initially sell Apple products. That's not a yes or a no, it's a may. I question if Apple may decide that by them self.

2. http://store.apple.com/Catalog/Images/worldwidewarranty.html

Again in this document I cannot read anywhere that it is written towards a specific product. Also if you read the section "OBTAINING WARRANTY SERVICE" there is written: "If the product is portable, meaning that it can operate independently without a power cord, you may obtain warranty service worldwide." So I don't think this refers only to an imac. Again in this document it's not a yes or no. It's a may.

3. https://www.apple.com/legal/warranty/products/iphone-chinese-s.html

Again a may in this document. Read the section "Important restrictions". Also under "Warranty Service Options" Apple seems to provide a solution. Not for free but they offer help.

So still I disagree. Yes there is nowhere written they should but there is also nowhere written that they should not. I really curious what would happen if I would provide this case to a local lawyer or customer organisation. This in combination with calling something worldwide warranty and the local customer protection laws that are in place.

Frankly you can disagree all you like .You have the facts and nothing is going to change that

Now go away and stop complaining

This not a debating chamber for the rights or wrongs as you see them of Apple's terms of warranty

You are already in breach of the terms of using this Forum
