iCloud calendar events disappearing

I have iCal on my Mac at home, synced to my iPhone, and then I use iCloud at work (from a PC). Today at work, I was looking at my iCloud calendar and several events disappeared from right in front of my eyes. However, they are still on my phone! (I can't yet check if they're on my Mac at home.) What is going on here?

I suspect that it has something to do with weekly repeating events - all the events which disappeared were in that category - but how do I get them back? My iPhone is set to sync 'all events' already.

HELP!!!!!! I don't know why but my appointments all disappeared from my iPhone 5 and my iPad today and I made absolutely no changes!!!! I don't remember many of the longer term appointments I made. I followed the advice in the thread above but it has not brought back my appointments. I don't add them to my computer - just those two devices. I am really upset!

Ok. This is easy. In calendars. Tap on calendars top left and it will show a list of all calendars. Work, home etc. One will be default. To right is arrow. Click on that and it will show you a color for that calendar. If it is a custom color then change it to a color that is listed instead of custom. You will find all your entries will magically reappear. Good luck. A glitch yes but easily remedied if the people at apple really cared!

Hi, I just tried a tip from someone else after trying many others and it worked! Try this.

Firstly do an iCloud storage and backup in your settings. Then secondly:-

Go to Settings, iCloud. Turn your Calendars OFF. It asks if you wish to keep or delete from your device. Press DELETE. DO NOT WORRY. It is all stored in iCloud and you just basically delete the problem you are having!

Then simply wait a few second and turn back ON. Again wait a few seconds.

I found most all my calendars came back with just a little missing. I then went into settings, (Mail, Contacts, Calendars) and then on your calendar section set default to CALENDAR and everything leaps back from iCloud into your calendar just as you wanted!

I had previously used default as iPad but find the Calendar default works, only after first turning them OFF in iCloud, deleting them, and then switching back on. Everyone will understandably worry about deleting but it only deletes the errors :-)

Well, I've tried all the suggested solutions, changing colours, syn'ing etc. yours looked promising! but I don't want most of the darned entries restored. me and everyone else who has this problem wants it fixed. that means all entries restored and confidence that the problem won't recur.

Thanks cazmic for your trouble, but despite your efforts, I'm completely disenchanted with the iPad calendar.

Does anyone know of a solid app that actually does the job?

I have everything correctly opened and checked and I am missing a ton of calendar appointments. Due to the negligence of Apple's button pushers, I have missed two doctor's appointments, and more then four client meetings which cost me a great deal of respect and money. This is absolutely reprehensible and is the act of some IT social misfit who simply does not comprehend the real world. I am so ******. The Public can't sue and the government refuses to step in to put a halt to these nefarious business practices.

I wasn't having troubles with my calendar until recently, but today I went to check the time of my next prenatal doctors appointment and discovered my calendar was completely wiped clean and couldn't add ANY new events in. This is not only disruptive to my work school, but also my appointment that I can absolutely not afford to miss for my health or my unborn baby's! I have since gone to iCloud, turned my calendar off, then back on, but have been unable to retrieve my appointment times among other important events. I'm ticked and frustrated. Am I ever going to get anything back or am I "abandoned" by my iPhone?

Yesterday all of my contacts disappeared and then reappeared hours later (without me changing any settings). I wasn't having trouble with my calendar until today. My son asked about his appointment next week and when I looked on my phone it was not there. It was there yesterday. I then noticed that all of me and my children's appointments are missing. What the heck is going on? This is very disruptive as I am a very organized person and rely heavily on my calendar to remind me of appointments and events. I'm not very happy right now. What is Apple doing to fix this?

Apple will do nothing. It is not in their best financial interest to "take care" of the customer. This is the current state of technology commerce. Anti-trust laws have become antediluvian as clearly these megaton mergers prove. It is all about capitalism and profit. Corporate America doesn't care, nor does your government. This is all about making money and not about producing great products. The word "glitch" wasn't even in our lexicon before the technology revolution. It is getting out of hand, and this worship of IT deities will change. The pendulum always shifts. Unfortunately, it will not be in my lifetime. As long as everyone under fifty genuflects to the whatever new tablet, phone or game is being marketed, the corporations are never going to perfect their machines. They have pulled a "fast one" on us, and the majority are marching to their drummer. Technology is more nefarious then terrorism.

I have just witnessed this bug on my iPad running iOS 8.0.2. I am normally an android user but recently decided to buy an iPad air. I am regretting this decision because of he way that apple treat their customers. This bug has been around for about a year and still no fix. I am absolutely disgusted.

THe the work around is to edit tye colour of your default calendar.

Thank God I managed to retrieve my lost calendar events. I have an e-mail at yahoo.com and my calendar syncs there too. All of my lost appointments were kept safe there. My gmail account had removed some of my events while others remained there and on my iPhone 4s. I went to my calendar app, selected "calendars" in the upper left corner of the screen, scrolled down to the Yahoo! section and selected the calendar with my name from the list in that tab. My events returned immediately.

Thanks, Yahoo. I could always rely on you! 🙂
