My MacBook Pro keeps randomly crashing and restarting. This happens usually when I'm using Mission Control, but there has been a few times where it'll just do it completely at random. Everything just goes black and the computer restarts. It was an increasingly annoying issues before I updated to Mountain Lion when it came out, but it seems the problem has returned. Anyone know why and how to fix it?

Mid 2010 15-inch MacBooks Pro have got a problem with the NVIDIA graphic card that causes reboots and kernel panics because of graphic problems. Apple is repairing all those Macs for free, so take the computer to an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider to get your Mac repaired. As the whole logic board has to be replaced, this can take some days
Also, don't forget to make a backup with Time Machine and/or Carbon Copy Cloner before taking your computer to get it repaired

My Macbook Pro 2010 seems to be having this issues as well. Since its way past the cutoff to have the mobo replaced, can you tell me which version OSX will work the this computer so I don't have to throw it out of a window in frustration?
The more recent the version of Mac OS, the worse the problem gets. Install 6.0.8 if you can live with it, but its Safari is getting too old, and you will soon need a different browser. The most recent FireFox is still available for that.
Think Grant Bennet-Alder meant 10.6.8 which was the last version of Snow Leopard. The rest is as he said.

Thanks Leopardus, that is correct. 10.6.8 -- the last version that can be installed from an Apple DVD.
10.6.8 was a very nice version of Mac OS that was the most stable one before System 7. It could be run from an HD floppy, and did not require the exorbitant "more than 1MB of RAM" required by system 7, when running on PowerPC computers like the Mac-II.

What I failed to mention to mofasho was that one can still buy the Server edition of OS X 10.6, and update that to 10.6.8 with the Combo Update without 'activating' and using the 'Server' part of it, and use it as a normal client Mac.
