iPod acting weird

Hello guys. i have an ipod video 30gb.
the problem is this.
i have my ipod configured to update all selected songs only, no videos photos or anything else. the disk mode option is off, and the auto launch itunes when ipod is connected is off.

when i plug my ipod. it opens the folder (it should not do this since disk mode is disabled). if i close this window, the icon H: from my pc will dissapear. (H: is the ipod disk), the ipod turns from "do not disconnect" to the regular menu music, videos, settings ~~~~...then if i want to update songs by itunes, i must disconnect and connect my ipod again.
if my itunes is open, it will update the songs and the when itunes says iPOd update is complete ok to disconnect, but the ipod is already on the main menu (music videos~~) the ipod icon is still on my itunes like if it was still connected, well it is but if i click on update again, it says: THE IPOD ~WILLIAM'S IPOD~ cannot be updated. The disk could not be read from or written to.

and i have to unplug and plug my ipod again. this is 2 annoying. i've reinstalled itunes, i've used ipod updater like 15 times, using 1.0 software and 1.1.1 but it does the same.

any idea??

... i don't like this. (of course, neither do you.) the way these errors are evolving and turning weirder is not good.

let's try some spring cleaning and maintenance.

download fresh definitions and run vigorous spyware and virus scans. if your security software providers offer them, run online scans as well. (warning in advance ... these things take an eternity.)

do a disk cleanup, run your favorite disk checking/repair utility, and do a disk defrag. reboot.

does that pick anything up?

love, b

i been googling the error and did all listed. also looked for it related to quicktime and found one apple discuss and u asked if he had installed a codecpack..

i don't know if this is related to me.. but days ago. i downloaded a filtered windows media player 11 for windows xp and messed with many of my dlls and i think since that day i can't open itunes -.-
