Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT

Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

MacBook Pro, Reinstalled software, some apps are missing.

I recently had to completely wipe and reinstall my mac book pro. I did this at a place called PeachMac (an apple specialty company) here in Alabama.

It is running great now, but, i don't have iPhoto, Garage Band, etc. that originally came on my Mac.

Is there a way to reinstall those for free? Or will I have to buy each program?

Thanks for your feedback.

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2010), iOS 6.0.2

Ok, I updated.

Still showing the same for FaceTime... and there aren't any of the iLife apps on the purchased lists... Maybe because it came on my computer?

That's correct, you did not purchase them from the App Store so you can't download them again from there.

Sorry, that's not correct....I know because I've done this.

Then why don't you inform the OP how you did it.

It doesn't seem as if it works consistently, you might want to bear that in mind.

The most likely cause of course is you, why did you omit this paragraph? (from the page you linked to)

If you erase install OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion on a new Mac that shipped with OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion installed, you can download iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand from the Mac App Store.

Especially as the OP's machine does not fit that requirement.

Please research more thoroughly, and then post.

you may want to let Apple know, it's their advice. I was simply passing it on as it worked for me.

That is incorrect, you omitted to read or post the specific requirements for the method, Apple did, so your misunderstanding of Apples statement led you here. I applaud your desire to help, please tame it with some basic research first. Learn which OSX is which (your method is incorrect for the majority of Mac users), that way no-one will be mislead, and no-one will need to point it out to you again 🙂
