Bluetooth adapter and Airport?

I just purchased a Kensington Bluetooth USB Adapter 2.0 thinking that I could connect to wireless networks including Airport. The little I've read seems to indicate that Bluetooth and Airport are entirely separate technologies. Can I do more with this adapter than sync with a phone or other bluetooth devices which I don't own?
