Apple-click on Window Title no longer opens containing folder

I just upgraded to Lion. So far some of the changes are annoying, but most are good.

I just discovered that when I Apple-click on the window title, then select the containing folder, it no longer opens in Finder. I still see the path to the file, but in prior OS versions, selecting one of the directories would cause Finder to open a view into the folder.

I use this becuase after I edit a file, I sometimes send it via email or drop to some and it saves time hunting down the file.

Any ideas how to turn this feature back on?

Hi,

I suggest if you have a trackpad on your Mac to just go and place the mouse cursor over the title bar and click the title with two fingers on the trackpad. That will reveal the menu. Alternatively you can go ahead and click the title bar while holding the control key to produce the same effect.

Thanks for the info, I had found the same menu by poking and prodding, yet it has a different behavior than previous verisons of the OS.

Let me be more specific in my description.

If you open an file in some text editor, say Preview, using Finder double click.

Now, close the finder window.

Now back in Preview, hover over the document name in the title bar and you command-click on the title, you get a drop down of sorts; which is the path to the file (one folder per line). Now if you navigate down the lines and select one of this lines and then up-click nothing happens in Lion.

In previous versions of MacOS X, and even Mac Classic (IIRC) , when you up-click on a directory name the Finder would open the directory in a window -- this is the feature I am trying to find.

In the parlence of MacOS land -- "Reveal in Finder" is the action I am looking for, but it is missing from the menu choices currently available in Lion using the technique you describe, and the behavior of the drop-down is very different now.

The function is not gone. There is something on your Mac interfering with it. PathFinder? TotalFinder?

Does it work properly in another account?

Now, if you are acually looking for a "Reveal in Finder" command, or a way to have the Finder open with the document selected, that is not available and I can't remember it being there.
