iPhone SMS/iMessage search doesn't take me to specific message

The iOS text message search feature needs to be fixed. I can type part of a previously sent message in the iMessage app's search bar and see the actual message as an option to tap on. However once I tap it, I am taken back to the latest message in conversation view, NOT message I searched for. The same goes for searching via spotlight, nothing. I want to be directed to the actual message I am searching for (the actual position in the conversation where the message is located). Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a solution? Let me know.

It is almost 2016. If anything the problem has gotten worse. My husband updated to 9.2, and he searches for the same words I do, using our text conversations as a way to check, and comes up with nothing. My non-updated version still finds the words but then still takes you to the end of the entire conversation. It's an incredibly useless feature, but should be a super simple fix. Google yields better results with their search function, that's with searching PDFs even...

Nope. I recently switched to iOS and I've got the same issues others are having, and maybe more.

The search won't return results of some old messages that I KNOW are there, because I can scroll up to them, manually.

When it does return results, it won't load the actual message, only skips down to the latest one.

Now if I scroll back far enough in one conversation, it literally crashes the messages app and closes it.
