Please help.. I'm doing videogame commentaries, and this microphone costed me $164.99. Is there something wrong with the microphone? Do I have to buy a new one? Or what about the converter from XLR to USB? How do I fix it?

Oh, and they're both reletivaly new... I got the microphone maybe at the end of November 2012... The converter... Maybe the second week of December 2012.. No way to know for sure... I tried setting it up once before but it (like now) didn't work and I had to quit. Now I'm seeking help, andyways back to the didn't work part... I let it sitting out since then... maybe like a month? I figured I could get it to work later. For now I can use the iMac microphone, but it doesn't get direct sound.. That's the reason I want the microphone to work. I want a clearer, closer sound. Thefore I don't have to speak up as much. Anyways, I'd appreciate the help. Thanks!

you must set up the Audio settings before you can use USB Mics connected to the Mac.

for some reason these setup instructions are not mentioned on any Blue literature.

go to:

Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI setup > Audio tab:

in the devices list, click on the Blue Mic

in the input tab move the M (for master) slider fully to the right - the value should now be 1

do the same for output tab

before each use in; System Preferences> Sound > Input tab

select the blue Mic and move input level fully to the right

test sound levels and adjust gain control on the mic body
