Multiple Apple ID's One iMac

My iMac is telling me the computer is already associated with an Apple ID, and since it is my husbands, I can not access my library even though I am logged into MY Apple ID on my User Login. It's telling me I can not access my iCloud purchases for 86 more days, and after that my husband will not be able to access his for 90 days.

What gives?

Explain this.....If you can tell me how you'll be my hero....When I try to access a song I purchased Thursday in iTunes on my work computer and am trying to download onto my home computer through the iCloud, this is the message I get.....

This computer is already associated with an Apple ID.

You can download past purchases on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days. This computer can be used with a different Apple ID in 86 days.

When iTunes is open, my iTunes account name is verified (I even logged out and logged back in to be sure), my content is visible, but only what was loaded, or purchased ON THIS computer is accessable to listen to or download. I am logged in under my User ID for the computer and when I go to Users and Groups it is my Apple ID that is associated with my login. Both I and my husband are Admins....

No other Apple ID's have EVER been used on this computer save mine and my husbands and we've been using the same ones since we purchased our first Apple product.

This message drew and immediate, "Ah, yes, that is correct." from the Support person I talked to....He walked m throught all the settings you've mentioned, and everything was correctly set up for us to have two users on one computer with separate iTunes accounts. That's why I was told the iTunes accounts don't matter, it's the Apple ID associated with the computer itself that prevents the downloads....per the message copied above.

?????

So now you have 2 separate logins to your computer? yes. (look in System Preferences>Users and Groups and look in the sidebar on the left.)

Already done. Our individual logins are associated with our individual Apple ID's, and our iTunes accounts show up as they are supposed to when we open them at login using our own user ID's.

We verified all that first thing.

And nothing has changed recently? (with your ID's)

And you noted this?

To download previous purchases on a computer, your computer must be authorized for the Apple ID that was used for the original purchase. For more information about iTunes Store authorization and deauthorization see this article.

The computer is authorized for my ID. And the purchases were made with the same ID that is logged into iTune when I login to my user. I double checked this across all my devices.

Nothing has changed with our individual logins.

"Now check each copy of iTunes (1 in each account) and verify the login credentials and any extra authorizations are as they should be, yours for you and his for your husband (main login)"

What did you mean then by (main login)?

Look, I answered all your questions, followed all your instructions, and I still get the Apple message as noted above....no solution to the issue. I have tried to do everything you suggested, and everything support suggested.

I wish I were making it up, but it is a real and known issue according to Apple Support. I am sorry you couldn't figure it out and fix it for me, but that doesn't change the fact that it's real.

And for the record - I sincerely appreciate your help. But it didn't fix anything, and I have a recorded conversation wtih Apple Support that validates the issue is known.

I am sincerly glad you don't have the issue and I hope you never do, but please don't make it out as though the issue is something I'm making up.

One more:

In your account, iTunes, go to the store menu and sign out, then sign back in with your Husbands credentials, then try your download.

If that does not work I suspect another service or 3rd party app is interfering so. Create a new Admin account, do not associate an Apple ID with it, open iTunes and try downloading again in both accounts (separately).

Post back.
