how to create gantt chart with numbers?

i'm a new user of numbers, as I use microsoft excel to create gantt chart before,it' s easy, but now, I like to use mac numbers, possibly, I'm not familiar with numbers, so i couldn't find a way to solve the date as a value and reverse the axises. Could somebody like to help me to solve this? Thanks.

Hi Anatoly,

I downloaded your Gannt chart fromhttps://yadi.sk/d/EsoDdJ303Fi4m6 and opened it in Numbers for Mac. Excellent work!

A 2D Stacked Bar Chart with white fill for Start Date. So simple!

I deleted some rows (items) from Table 1 but the chart Y axis stayed at 35 items, with no bars for the missing items.

To make the chart more interactive, we can select whole Columns A, B and C in table 1

User uploaded file

and insert a new 2D Stacked Bar (Table and Chart are both on the same Sheet for clarity):

Now we can add (or delete) items (I added Item 12 to Table 1)

User uploaded file

and the chart automatically updates.

Thank you for such a simple solution to this 4 1/2 year old question!

Regards,

Ian.

Hi zeroink,

Looks like Apple has stopped displaying email addresses on the profile page(s).

Hover the mouse on my name above any of my posts. A floating window will open, and you should be able to control-click (or right click) on the address to copy it, or just click to open a pre-addressed new message in Mail.

Hi Jesse,

I'm amazed and impressed that this thread has persisted so long on simple asks-and-emails of the documents. http://www.iworkcommunity.com/?c=22 seems to be far from current, but might that be a place that the docs in question could be posted, saving any individual from having to manually send it out?

A great idea! Perhaps Barry would be willing to follow your suggestion and post his version of a Gannt chart on such a forum. Let's hope that Barry stops by.

PS

You can find a screen shot of my version, with full instructions on how to construct it, on Page 11 of this thread (second post on that page).

There's also version by SGIII, using conditional highlighting, posted immediately following mine, also including instructions.

The Jerrold spreadsheet is very good, but for my needs it was over-featured, to coin a phrase. I needed something simpler.

Adapting from a free Excel template I found online, I put together a much simpler Gantt-ish spreadsheet. It doesn't do all the cool stuff Jerrold's does, but for my purposes it's useful to get a quick overview of my basic scheduling needs.

It also works with concrete dates, whereas Jerrold's models time more abstractly.

I'm sharing a link to an iCloud Numbers page where anyone interested can download it and see if it's what they want:

It's clunky in many ways, if anyone's interested in modifying it to make it more robust, go ahead! I made a backup, so if it gets borked I can restore it easily.
