Does an encrypted external drive (Time Machine) prevent mounting on another device (if the drive is stolen)?

Because I chose to encrypt my external drive (for use with Time Machine), I am now asked to enter my password upon start-up. Would this still happen if the drive were to be stolen and mounted on another computer also?

iCloud-OTHER, Mac OS X (10.7.3)
