Why does Amazon no longer work in Safari?

For about a month I've been unable to use the Amazon website in Safari. Anything I click on gets an error message like; "An error occurred trying to process your request. Be assured we are working on this." And Amazon can't recognize my password, and Safari says it can't recognize the website because the "certificate" is wrong.

All this works perfectly from a tablet.

I have emptied the Safari cache and deleted all cookies, with no result.

Pasting is just pasting, same as any text program.

However if you're on Open DNS and you're able to get to Amazon doing the cut and paste wouldn;t show much. It would be something to do when it wasn;t working. I was curious to see what ip www.amazon.com would resolve to when you were having problems.

So the modem from Version is also a router and wifi hotspot? How do you connect the iMac to it? The Nook is wireless right?

Not much else I can think of to check now. As I said if its working then there isn't much we can look at.

If you're happy to use Open DNS then you can just stay as you are. If the problem reoccurs post back.

regards

What is your general location?

Search Wikipedia for the OpenDNS server locations if they are near you or not.

Have you ran namebench?

Try downloading something large from Apple and time it while on OpenDNS, then swtich back to your ISP DNS and download it from Apple again and time that, compare the results.

A alternate DNS server has to be in the same general vicinity as the ISP Internet server because Akamai content (Apple uses) goes by DNS server location, not by the users location closest to the ISP download server.

Many recommend a alternate DNS service as a workaround to a ISP DNS having issues, but OpenDNS and GoogleDNS (and others) also have issues too.

If most people just waited a bit, the problem gets resolved and they don't need to suffer adverse effects (and privacy issues) of using a alternate DNS service unnecessarily.

There is nothing wrong with reccommending a alternate DNS, as long as it's for the right reasons and there isn't a costly side effect.

Thanks. For any others having issues: My DNS entries were limited to Comcast. Amazon log-in or check-out was not possible with the Comcast entries. This just started with the last update. The moment I added the open DNS addresses, the Amazon log-in page, that was loading for almost a half hour at that point, loaded immediately.
