iOS 6.1.1 Didn't fix the Battery drain (4S)
I just did an OTA update from 6.1 to 6.1.1, And i notice that every 2 minutes my battery drops by %1, this is really depressing, Can anyone confirm this isn't just me?
Thank you.

When you use the "reset all settings" option and the device reboots you should see an option to set up as new.

My husband just did the reset, but could not figure out where "reset as new" is. Where is that command and wizard located?
Correct that is a different process than a restore in iTunes. Two different things. iTunes is needed to restore but not for the settings>reset>reset all settings function.
Thank you; he apparently didn't see it when his device rebooted. Does the option automatically come up when it reboots? We're going to try my iPhone next. He is letting his battery run down & will recharge it overnight as suggested. Appreciate your help.
it should be a gray screen asking what you want to do. restore or setup as new
OK, the confusion here is that "Reset all settings" JUST resets settings; it does not erase the phone or provide an option to restore a backup (because nothing has been erased). To set up the phone as new you need to choose Erase all content and settings from the Settings/General/Reset menu.
Correct except you are prompted when the device reboots and are at the gray screen to choose restore or setup as new just as if you diderase. The difference is after you run through the wizard setting up options your device comes back with all apps and groups etc intact. Where as the erase all content will be the default out of box device.
So yes the reset all setting does JUST reset settings not all other stuff. Thanks for pointing that out again.
Success! We did not get the gray screen you described with the option to restore or reset as new. After we did the reset settings our screen with icons came back up. My battery life improved immediately and the phone is not heating up. My husband's continued to drain power so he did the reset sequence again this morning. Also called Apple Help which was no help. The tech acted like he hadn't heard of this problem and offered nothing other than turn off Bluetooth and GPS aps. For some reason his phone is better this afternoon. You are a lifesaver! Thank you.
Did not work for me. I am waiting for appt at apple store now :(
Reset all settings..... Really? What about the yellow note pad notes, I have a ton of important stuff in there..... Didn't lose anything?
Reset all settings does just that - resets settings. It does not affect data in your apps. In addition, you can back up the phone both to your computer and to iCloud, so you will have two backups. And you can sync your notes to an app on your computer or to iCloud in addition to the backups (and it also allows you to see your notes on your computer and in iCloud).
Thank you. I really need an apple class! But you are very helpful, and I am very grateful. @Lawrence Finch :)
My last reply was to both you, sBaily4, and Lawrence Finch. We really appreciated the responses to our questions. The gray screen with the boxed "reset to new" remains a mystery on our phones. We didn't see that but the batteries quit draining.
I'm happy it worked for you. It usually does.
Welcome glad it worked!
Just tried resetting all settings. Never had any issues with battery life before the 6..1.1 update, now the phone dies after about 7 hours whether I am using it or not. There should be a way to just undo the update.
