iOS 6.1.1 Didn't fix the Battery drain (4S)

I just did an OTA update from 6.1 to 6.1.1, And i notice that every 2 minutes my battery drops by %1, this is really depressing, Can anyone confirm this isn't just me?

Thank you.

Just tried resetting all settings. Never had any issues with battery life before the 6..1.1 update, now the phone dies after about 7 hours whether I am using it or not. There should be a way to just undo the update.

There would be no point in doing that. The problem is not the update. The problem is an app that was messed up by the update. And reverting to an earlier version will not undo the messed upness.

However, you can clean it up yourself, using successful troubleshooting steps that have been around for 5 years (this isn't something new) and that have been posted uncountable times in these forums.

I'm actually curious - which app? As for now, any analysis of battery drain, cpu drain, memory drain for IOS is a laugh. There are many system monitor applications available in AppStore - none of them is actually allowed to get crucial information from system command alike top. I've checked several of them - got list of processes and that was it. After closing all the active applications - nothing changed in battery drain scenario. And the processess - it is impossible to see actually the consumption of CPU/memory, which would push the problem recognition in any direction. Also - definite most of the processess belongs to IOS/(cr)Apple itself.

I tried resetting the settings - well, as a solution it is also a crap - had to input once again all my wifi passwords, all my vpn credentials and so on. If this is the "problem solution" way - that it is no way. At least for customer supporting (cr)Apple for so many years. And if anyone tries to convince me, that 3rd party application is a problem - I say ********. Too many people with too many configurations of applications (or lack of them) has got same problem. I believe the problem lies within IOS platform itself.

Anyway - I've checked the forums, seems like that proposed solution is to revert phone to factory settings, configure it and install all the applications again. Not to recover backup, as it may also be propagated with the "problematic battery drain issue". If THAT is an ultimate solution, then one of forum members was right - there is no better encouragement to go Android.

If you really want to prove that it's the OS, you can backup your current iphone and then revert your iphone to out-of-the-box with no applications and then see how long the battery lasts. You could then add apps one by one until you find the culprit.

Exchange was definately a problem. Apple would fix that right away because it affected Corporate users. Other apps will not be a priority for them so even if you find which one you will probably still not get a fix from Apple.

I've followed Exchange forks on different forums. Including all the threads for Exchange administrators with guidelines how to most efficiently block IOS devices. That was a lot of fun though.

Concerning my iphone - two issues:

1) I do not use it with Exchange servers. Neither mails, nor contacts. Nothing.

2) I do not use Facebook application with it. Not at all.

Other applications installed? Frankly speaking - those apps do not have any running process combined. And I doubt it very much that any of them would cause battery drain.

"And one last thing" - I do use my IPAD with gmail in full sync, I also use Facebook app with it. Guess what - no battery drain issues.

About Your solution - to revert phone to factory-level and start installing different applications + monitoring battery usage. Well - I do not have spare month for it. And this is definitely not the solution for any (cr)Apple customers.

P.S. Still I wonder - what was the reason to block any detailed informations from system tools (alike top/ps)? If there would be possibility to get full output - it would be possible to track down problematic process in minutes. Is it because it would be crystally clear to proove IOS programmers mistake?

I had terrible battery life before the update, great battery life after. Is that a meaningful correlation? For every release of iOS that has come out over 5 years, some users report worse battery life, some report better, and most (by not posting anything) don't notice a difference. There are also people who post that their battery life suddenly got worse, and they hadn't updated in the recent past. All of which makes it pretty much impossible to determine correlation between any particular iOS upgrade and battery life.

Did it ALL. Even RESTORED TO FACTORY! N my battery is still daring and it crashes several times a day. I tried restoring from backup, deleting a bunch of stuff. Omg I can't even remember what that poor phone was put through over the months. My 3G never had this problem sheesh! I'm just gonna grit my teeth and wait for the iPhone 6. Not 5s, the 6. And pray it lasts longer than a year n a half or whatever. I miss Steve Jobs
