Apple IOS 6.1.1 update still wifi greyed out

I have updated IOS 6.1.1 on my iPhone 4s and the wifi option still grey out.

I am sure that it is not about hardware issue because this is a new phone that I have just changed from Thailand before I came back to study in UK.

Now I am having problem with using wifi for 2 months and it is very annoying.

I would go to the nearest AppleStore, speak to a "genius" and give them a POLITE piece of your mind - APPLE screwed up your phone. Period. IN or OUT of warranty - THEY did it. Their sofware on THEIR hardware - somethign that was suppose to IMPROVE reliability has caused it to not be functional at all.

Come on folks - its time to rattle some cages. Tim Cook needs to tighten up the ship before the "Apple magic" fades away.

@Michael Battenfield

I tried speaking to customer support for more than an hour to make them understand this.

They kept telling me my phone was 23 days out of warranty. That this is a hardware issue that has now emerged on my phone and they can do nothing about. That i could take it to a "genius" if i wanted and pay for repairs.

Guess what... i am told they have never heard of wifi issues from ios6 update!

I hope some more users voice themselves and we make apple see reason to allow for OS downgrades.

Apple Store.

If one has to call support, they WILL give you that song and dance. Demand they "escalate" your case to the supervisor. Explain that it is THEIR software update that hosed your phone. It was working prior - and the SOFTWARE update caused your issue. Also - if the initial WiFi issue started before your warranty expired - make sure that is a point - and that you were trying to be patient to allow Apple to fix the problem. They did not - now its time for them to step up and do what's right.

Be persistent. And again, go to an Apple Store if one is reasonably near. Be nice, but very firm.

Well I went to my local Apple Store today and I will say that I am not impressed with the way I was treated. They basically told me sorry about my luck, and that there is nothing Apple can do for me since my phone is out of warranty. They claim they have never heard of any of these greyed out wifi issues. I'm sure Apple coached them how to play stupid and deny any knowledge to this problem. A simple Google search shows that this is a wide spread problem that is affecting a lot of innocent customers. I let the "Geniuses" know that it is complete BS how Apple can get away with ruining my phone then have the nerve to tell me for $200 they can possibly repair it. I'm not sure what else to do at this point. If Apple doesn't come through and rectify this issue I will definately be switching over to an Android phone and I will never purchase another Apple product the rest of my life.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the iOS version and downgrading, even if you could, will not fix it. This problem has occurred after every update since at least iOS 2.0 in a minute fraction of the 100+ million iPhones out there.

If you tried all the steps in the support article without success, there is likely a hardware failure.

@modular747

It definitely has something to do with the OS version, because my phone was working just fine minutes before the os upgrade.

OS is a low level software that needs to interact with the hardware. So if this is indeed a hardware failure i would think it is being caused by the OS upgrade only.

With so many people facing this exact hardware issue immediately after the OS upgrade, it is unlikely that the timing of the hardware failure popping up can be a co-incidence!

that argument apple lawyers thought off already.

"Software distributed by Apple under the Apple brand name (including, but not limited to system software) is not covered under this Limited Warranty"

here is reference:

That warranty is only for North and South Americas, quite possible that EU has different policies.
