The issue is that the phones worked perfectly BEFORE an apple ios update.  It's not like the greyed out wifi issue is occuring because of any negligent behavior from the user.  It's 100% Apple's fault.  So even if the warranty has expired, the right thing for Apple to do should be to correct the problem, or replace the phones for those users who have been affected from Apple's mistake.  It's not like it's a moving part that wears out over time, or a cracked screen from rough handling.  If that was the case, then yes, I would agree...out of warranty, too bad, however;  this is the direct result of a screw up on Apple's end.

Dream on. Move on. Your choice. I think some people try to make forum cry over the choice they make.

Still having the same problem. No reply from Apple. Very disappointed. This is the first time in 5 years since have been using iPhone that I have had a bug, and that remains unresolved after so many posts and anguish.

Apple wake up before its too late..

Suggest everybody to lodge a complaint at

    https://expresslane.apple.com/GetproductgroupList.action

and let Apple know we are not a small group. This is a big problem and cant be left to find its own solution.

Well well well, I got post removed and was asked to 'be polite', but being polite and respectful should be mutual----I am open to any negative feedback against my posts, even there would be misunderstandings; however, when I saw my post up there and there was a dirty gesture down there, it would not be worth being polite, unless none of the users including the community hosts has any clue about what that gesture means.

Apologize if my language offended some other users here, and I am requesting the Apple Support Communities staff to remove the image currently used by 'fromsouth'!!!

I apologize if my avatar offended you, if you really want it, I will be happy to remove it myself. There are plenty other images that can be picked out there. To me the image does not matter, what person says or does matters.

Just wanted to wish you a beatiful life that is all. That was what you have said, wasn't it:

"There is no way to waste our beautiful life getting stuck with Apple! Go luck to the rest of Apple fans."

Your avatar offended whoever your dirty thumb pointed to, please keep it within yourself and don’t use it in this public forum as nobody has to take it!

To me the image does not matter, what person says or does matters.

Well, let’s have a look at what you said to others:

    - You just want your phone to be replaced without paying … (what did u know to judge?)

    - I am sorry, so it was not you saying goodbye and going somewhere? (Come on, be a man!)

    - There are no fans here, just people buying discounted phones from phone companies at one quarter price and surprised that if phone goes bad past warranty, they suppose to pay to replace it (I paid full price and the wifi was grayed out after updating to iOS 6.0.1; some people got ‘discounted’ phones with fixed term plans but not ‘discounted’ phones with discounted quality!)

    - I think some people try to make forum cry over the choice they make. (I hope you would enjoy the same experience sooner or later, cheers!)

    - Just wanted to wish you a beatiful life that is all. That was what you have said, wasn't it (what a petty life! Unfortunately I might still have to hang around as I still have 2 iPhone 4S, 3 iPads, and 1 iPod Touch to get rid of; my advice to users experiencing the same problem was to give up the hope that Apple could solve this wifi problem and move on! And as you said, this is a tech forum, but after trying all the technical solutions available, giving up could be just another practical solution.

I found avatar, that I am sure you will like. I also stand behind everything you highlighted.

You do want your phone replaced for free, don't you? What does that mean "common be a man"? I don't care if you paid full price or not - your phone's warranty expired and you just want something for nothing. I am sure I did enjoy some of the experience, unless you think that everything I use never breaks. As long as it breaks past warranty I do pay for repair. Once I got Pioneer sound system replaced, but it broke two days past warranty, so they helped me out. At no point of my conversation with them I told them that they owe me something. It seems like you are under impression that that whole world does owe you, including me. To prove to you how correct you are and out of respect for your valuable opinion, I changed my Avatar for you.

your issue is that you are always assertive about your assumption, well, I don't think I could help you any further kid except your self-willingness to change.

I registered my wifi problem online within the warranty, and then they asked me to try this and that, after trying them all and all failed, they asked me to go to the physical store; Fine, went there but was questioned by the staff 'didn't they tell u to make an appointment?!'  Fine, made an appointment and went there again, they didn't even try to repair but simply checked the warranty, 'sorry, the warranty has just expired, u need to pay CHF209 to get a replacement'. Then I called Apple pointing out the fact that I registered the problem within the warranty, 'sorry, you should have called us earlier...'

As I said, most of the users are pretty sure that it's an Apple problem not a phone problem, so they should either fix it or replace it for free; or, I am willing to pay that amount for a replacement of their latest model, i.e. iPhone 5, am I greedy or asking toooooo much? Different people would have different opinions, especially for those who are not suffering such wifi problem----this I agree that we'll never agree with each other, but at least we should understand differences exist, and not to simply stereotye by judging others 'just want something for nothing'.

Btw, nice to see that u r willing to change, though I am not Swiss and I don't like cheese----you are stereotyping and making assumption again!

I do not presume you are swiss, nor do i care what you like. You do want something for nothin and no amount of B. S. will prove otherwise.

You win, girl, I (probably all the users having the same problem) do want something for nothing if the wifi grayed out problem proves to be Apple's problem!

I realized that you have the habbit picking on people's words against the people purely for the sake of winning the verbal argument and pointlessly ignoring the context----that's why I commented 'Come on, be a man!' Got it girl!?
