Show your complete and total ingratitude towards the person who apparently thinks so much of you that he/she so thoughtfully and generously gave you such an expensive and sophisticated present by;

Finally, no matter what else you choose to do, remember this; this forum is here to help people find out how to get the best from their iPods. It is a user-to-user forum and despite the minimal presence of Apple staff as Community Specialists, Apple are not particularly interested in your approach and it is therefoe a waste of your time to use it. Furthermore, those of us here who give their time (for free) to help people like you are likely to be offended by your approach and therefore ignore your posts.

It's not as if you are a new member here. You have been a member of this community long enough now to know how to get the best out of this foum.

I obviously missed your December thread. (That's what happens when there are too many stupid threads to wade through.)

Actually, it's a very complex piece of software with enough options in it that no one need go anywhere else. It does however, mean that you are bound to find fields and options that you never use. They can be hidden, turned off and ignored.

And no, I don't know of any other programme that can be used for synchronising with an iPod.

• iTunes has been designed specifically to work with iPods and iPads. Nothing else has.
• Why would you not want to use a programme that has been especially written to go with the devices you've spent so much money on? That makes no sense.
• Do you have specific issues with iTunes? If so, what are they?

I recently have a situation where iTunes will crash every time I try to connect to a device, but is fine when I log in as a different user.

I have tried creating a new library - no success.

I have reinstalled iTunes after zapping it. No.

I had hard drive problems, so...

I have recovered time machine to entirely replace the hard disk with a new one, and then tried again. Nopes.

So I really think an alternative for sticky situations like this would suit me too, at least until I find time to figure out what next to do with my user account on this mac which has been made a problem JUST BECAUSE my itunes app crashes whenever I try to connect.

For now my workaround is to be someone else...

I agree with Lego. I have been given a way too expensive Ipod for Christmas and I absolutely hate the thing. Besides it have a lousy 8 hr battery it constantly goes into a restore loop and can't be used for days. Just as frustrating is it will come out of the loop on it's own, but days later. Like I said, I hate this thing!!

Thank you very much. I gave up on iTunes. I tried all I could for iTunes to find my external hard drive with my music, but it would not find it. I even called support! So I tried Media Monkey and it worked within seconds.

opps! wrote my reply to the wrong person! I tried Media Monkey and it worked like a charm. Found my external HD with no concerns in seconds. Something I could not get iTunes to do even after I called Apple Support.
