OK, let's do this step by step.

Grab your iPhone.

Go to Settings/Messages/Send&Receive.

Unassociate your AppleID from this screen and delete ANY emails in there associated with it. Make sure the only thing left is your phone number and it is checkmarked. Then back out of those settings screen utilizing each of the buttons on the top left of the screen until you're back under settings. Then turn off the iPhone by holding down both your Home and Power buttons until the iPhone turns off (DO NOT Slide to Turn Off). Then turn it back on and wait for it to come back up and link up the network.

Go back into Settings/Messages/Send&Receive and click on Add Email. Put in your AppleID info on the next screen. (DO NOT create a new AppleID). Confirm this info and then make sure on the previous screen that the email address is set as the one with the checkmark next to it.

Then back out of the settings screen utilizing the back buttons each time.

Go to your Mac and Quit out of Messages. Start the app back up and sign in with the SAME AppleID and password you just used on your iPhone.

If you do this right, it will work.

BTW, make sure you're connected to the web on your Mac when you're doing this... but that should be pretty obvious that you need that layer of connectivity.

Hi, I was wondering if you could help me? I live in America and i have a macbook and iphone but i recently came to Pakistan to visit. So, my iMessage works perfectly fine on my iphone over wifi and even on my macbook UNTIL i accidentally signed out of imessage from my mac (whomph) and now it wont let me sign back in and it says "Could not sign in to imessage. The server encountered an error processing registration. Please try again later" I signed out from imessage on my iphone and signed back in and its working fine. Any suggestions?

I tried doing what you told @laurenpheale and now my messages arent going through on imessage.. 😟

P.S. i tried attaching a screenshot but it's not working. Also, i'm currently in PK right now!

Very well could be an issue with iMessage working properly on a Mac because fo the country you're in. You'd have to check on that to be sure... it would certainly be a new issue I wasn't aware of before, but if it's something geo-location based, then that could be the cause.

The reason why it's still working on your phone could be a cell carrier agreement to get around such a limitation. Perhaps the ISP you're using for WIFI access on the PC won't allow said protocol to work. Even with WIFI on the phone turned on and linked, if iMessage fails on that layer, it'll fall back to the data network on the cell carrier as a backup, so it's not exactly a good measure to say it's working fine on the phone, so it should also work on the PC as well. (I hope this makes sense.)
