Hi folks
I have just bought my first mac computer and my ipod classic will not sync. It is connecting and listed in devices but the content is greyed out. It will not sync to pick up new purchases.
Is this due to it only being used on a windows pc before?
How due I preserve my music and get the sync working?

It is due to not having the libraries from the old computer available on the new Mac. You need to transfer the iTunes libraries from the PC to the Mac, then authorize the Mac (iTunes, Store, Authorize this computer), and then the iPod should be happy with the new Mac.

My old pc is dead but I have the hard disc in a mobile enclosure. Will just dragging and dropping the old itunes folder from "My music" work?

The third article seems to answer my problem. The ipod can only be used with a windows computer unless I restore it on the mac computer.
I still have a laptop on windows so will use it there.
All I have to do now is get rid of the hundreds of duplicates in itunes!!

As long as the disk is formatted so the Mac reads it, that will work.
