No Sound on IPAD2

OK,

I have had no sound since I upgraded to 6.1 on my Ipad2. I have done all the suggestions that have been on this thread. I did though turn off the Ipad2, when the red switch came up, I swiped it to turn it off. After about 5 min. Turned it back on the the sound bar appeared for about 3 seconds after I double clicked and checked the sound to the far left in the task screen, then disappeared and again no sound. I Cleaned the ports (Head set and the dock port) checked all the settings. I really think this is an Issue with the ios 6.1 update. Apple needs to fix this bug. I had sound before I upgraded. SO Apple take note.!!!!! Please come out with a fix to fix the sound issue. I even deleted and started all over as a new IPAD2. When I done this the sound bar was not there after I rebooted everything. THIS HAS TO BE A BUG IN THE UPGRADE, Come on Apple FIX IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok lets try this.

Step 1 Troubleshoot:

  • Double tap the home button
  • Swipe from left to right (After you've done that you are now in the multitask bar)
  • Tap the speaker icon to the far left

The speaker icon may be muted tap to unmute. Make sure volume bar is all the way to the right. Also make sure mute switch has no orange showing. Now press play from the multitask bar. Let me know what happens.

Ok 1 more thing and you can let me know how it went tomorrow.

Ok, A few have had debris stuck in there docking port which caused no sound and sometimes charging errors. So

let's try cleaning your docking port.

  1. Got to Setting > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
  2. Get a toothbrush & Alcohol
  3. Get the toobrush damp (shake of excess alcohol really good)
  4. Take toothbrush and clean inside gently

After power down your device and Reboot it Try to play a song.

If it doesn't work it may be a hardware issue. In this case you would need to call Apple and make an appointment at your nearest Apple store. They would then diagnose the problem. This may cost money if you don't have a protection plan.

Hope I've been of assistance to you. Again sorry for you problem hope it gets resolved

Ok,

Tried your suggestions last night. Again nothing is working. Still no sound. Anyway, I got to thinking and after some thought, I came to realize that I really don not use the external speaker that much anyway. I do not listen to that much music, I read a lot and listen to audio books and when I do i use the ear buds anyway. So, today I went and bought some apple ear buds and the sound is magnificent. So, if I need to use the external speaker, I will jut buy an external one. But, I just want to thank you for all your valiant efforts in resolving my minor problem. I don't see the need to sent it back to Apple for just fixing this minor problem. If anything else goes awry then I will send it in. I will just wait till next update and see what happens. I will keep you posted if the speaker comes back. Thank again.

SInce I updated my ipad2 (you get a notice to update), unfortunately I have no sound. This is very frustrating and I have done everything that the techs have told me and still no sound. I used to talk on Skype everyday but now I cannot hear a thing - no sound. It's is very annoying that such a thing would happen and we have to go through this shinanagans over and over again. I have four friends of mine who updated their Ipad2 and theirs too lost their sounds.

ok,I am back. Have tried everything possible. Still no sound. But have sound when I plug in my head phone. This started happening when I upgaraded to the latest IOS a few months back. I am thinking of buying a bluetooth speaker. Do you think it will work? Will have to wait till the fall in which I hear that will be the next IOS upgrade for the IPad. I really think it is a operating system roblem and hot a hardware problem.

Ok, I have tried all the fixes that are known on all discussions about fixing the sound. Deleted eveything started over as new IPAD. Still no sound bar. When I reboot it from the apple logo, the soud bar appears for about 15 seconds then disappears. When I use mywireless speaker and the airplay menu pops up there is no IPAD option only the wireless speaker and dock connector. The wireless speaer works well and so does the ear buds. Any suggestions. Have cleaned the port with air tootbrush, and eveything that has been suggested. I have heard of an update this fall. Any rumors as to when the update might be. I have taken in to an apple store and they can't fix it either.
